Introducing our 6-Week Body-Based Somatic Processing Group, rooted in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and inspired by Aikido, led by Andy Lesniewicz and Gretchen (Leu) von Seggern.
You have a body and within it live your emotions, beliefs, and life experiences. Every day, your body meets stress, conflict, and connection in its relationship with the world.
Our earliest experiences shape how we meet the world. Through protective patterning, the body learns to respond to stress, connection, and threat, often organizing a patterned self that continues long after the original circumstances have passed.
This 6-week group offers a space to explore these patterns through gentle, body-based practices rooted in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and the principles of Aikido. Participants are invited to cultivate awareness, soften habitual responses, and discover new ways of responding from healing rather than protection.
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is an evidence-based, body-oriented psychotherapy that integrates nervous system regulation with mindful awareness of physical experience. By working with sensation, posture, movement, and autonomic responses, it supports the resolution of developmental and relational experiences.
Aikido, a Japanese martial art centered on harmony and non-resistance, informs the group’s approach to meeting stress with presence, balance, and adaptability. Rather than pushing through or fighting what arises, participants learn to move with internal and external forces in ways that support safety, choice, and regulation.
This group is ideal for those feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or curious about body-based healing. Previous therapy experience recommended. No prior somatic or martial art experience is required.
Our hope is that you leave with a deeper connection to your body and an increased capacity to meet and move with what life brings.
