Christy developed a diabetic ulcer from a pedicure for months. She was in medical walking boots on boot feet. She started wound care treatment and antibiotics in April 2022 and only getting worse. She went to the hospital July 2022 for a few weeks and coded and had to be revived then. She was sent home under the care of an Infectious Disease doctor. She had to go to FGH weekly for lab work. Her labs were getting worse each week instead of better. She went through server oral antibiotics. The pain in both feet was unbearable but she keep working and going because we all know how stubborn she is.
November 22,2022 she went and had her hair done and came home and said, I need to go to the hospital. I took her to the the ER and she was admitted. From Nov, 22- Dec. 3 she had 7 blood transfusions. They amputated her left leg below the knee on December 9, 2022.
They let here come home Dec.23rd for Christmas. She slept all day Dec.24th&25th. On Dec.26, she ask to go to the ER. She said she felt like she need more blood. She could barely get in her wheelchair. We were taken straight back to the RED AREA of the ER with several nurses and two doctors that started hooking her up to things, drawing labs, taking x-rays, and calling ICU. They said 6 more hours at home and she would have died on the couch. She was in complete respiratory failure. Her lungs looked worse than any covid patient. She was admitted to ICU.
She stayed in ICU a few days and they moved her to a floor against the nurses advice and family but "the doctor" said she was alert enough because she was asking for pudding.
She wasn't on the floor 24 hours with the Bi-Pap still on until she went into distress again and was drowning on the fluid in her lung. The doctor on the floor called the rapid response nurse and they were on her again. Respiratory Therapist had to bring 4 tanks of oxygen just to get her from 7th floor back to ICU. Before she left the room we were explained that she would be put on the vent to help her breathe. While on there, she would be put to sleep to rest and heal and they'd wake her when visitors came in. They told her she probably wouldn't come off the vent but if she did it was going to be hard considering the way her lungs looked. She was so scared but so strong. She never gave up on God, on fighting, on life. She stayed in ICU 15 days. She finally went to the 5th floor. She had a blood clot, 4 surgeries, and a main life line in her juggler. She came home Jan.20, 2023.
She wants to write about different things and share what all GOD has brought her through. Plus she can keep everyone updated. Thank you for all you prayers. Please keep them coming.
