The Take 5 Approach:

Introducing the Take 5 approach to accommodating and empowering neurodivergent individuals in an activating setting. Think chaotic social, school, home or therapeutic settings

The Take 5 approach can help neurodivergent folks who may be unreliably speaking or have difficulty with expressing themselves with verbal or written communication.

People who have experienced trauma, even if they are not autistic, may also find the Take 5 system helpful.

If you're autistic, you can print this and share it with your providers. You can find this as a printable PDF document athttps://neuroclastic.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Take-5-Approach.pdf

Parents, friends, teachers, and loved ones can adapt the Take 5 approach for classrooms, home settings, or when out enjoying the world.

Hello All,
As we work to change the narrative of neurodiversity it is critical that we work to educate and inform services for our community. To that end I am asking that people review and comment on the State of Californian’s Plan from the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD). This is the group that informs Regional Centers across the state how best to support our communities. This is how we change the standard of care that families enter into as their children are diagnosed as neurodivergent.
Let’s make sure our voices are heard.
Please check out this site to submit your comments by November 9,2020. They are on a better path of inclusion. Let’s make sure the right voices are guiding the way.

Have you ever wondered about the term camouflaged in relation to autism? This graphic helps understand the characteristics of compensation, masking and assimilation and how they combine to deliver someone who is socially camouflaged.

When we learn how to spot mastery of these skills we are better equipped to support those who might need our connection, compassion and curiosity.

My Clients

My clients are individuals on the autism spectrum, their families and supports who often experience Autism as overwhelming. They are in need of hope, encouragement and direction in feeling whole and valued. Their overwhelm has led to frustration and uncertainty over possibilities and what to do next. Our work is to create a resourced safe space from which to grow, one with an expansive feeling of hope and possibility for the future.

It gets better when you find your power and possibilities! Utilizing our Experience Lived Expertise, trauma informed techniques and the latest research in autism and neurobiology, we will work through both mind and body to explore your world and figure out how best to navigate it.

When you work with me you will feel safe and valued exactly where you are. Our work together is to build up your resources and vocabulary to effectively communicate with those around you, so your needs can be understood and met. There are challenges and we will work with those too but through resources and understanding we can find directions forward.
