A little over a year ago, Blue Zones Project Petaluma helped lay the foundation — literally — for something special at Petaluma River Park.

We partnered with the Petaluma River Park Foundation to build an outdoor movement platform and launch the park's first wave of community programming: a 10-week Zumba series designed to make movement accessible to everyone in South Sonoma County.

Now that same platform was just the home of a Spring Festival - "Spring By the River". ☀️

This is exactly why we invest in the built environment — not just for today's programming, but for the community moments that follow. Proud to have played a small part in making this gathering space a reality.

Ready to get outside this season? 🚲☀️🙌 Did you know that the City of Petaluma, Petaluma Safe Streets, Rebuilding Together, and Blue Zones Project Petaluma collaborated to install a series of trail signs to guide pedestrians and bicyclists along the Lynch Creek Trail?

The Lynch Creek Trail begins or ends, depending on where you start, on Water Street in west Petaluma and ends at Prince Park, a distance of 2.5 miles. As the only cross-town connector that doesn’t follow a roadway, the trail follows Lynch Creek passes underneath highway 101, continues past Lucchesi Community Center, to Prince Park.

Our aim is to make the built environment as accessible as possible, and we hope this updated wayfinding project helps you get outside! Enjoy it!

If you have not seen it yet, be sure to watch the talk from our Executive Director, Nichole Warwick, who was recently a featured speaker at TEDx Sonoma County! ⭐

For decades, our systems have been asking people to make healthier choices without changing the conditions around them. At Blue Zones, we work to align the systems and conditions that create and sustain those healthy behaviors.

This TEDx talk reflects that shift. Health happens in community.
