We are delighted to announce the opening of Petaluma Valley Hospital's newly renovated second-floor post-surgical unit, featuring upgraded private rooms and an improved space designed to enhance patient recovery for all surgeries. This transformation was made possible through the generous support of community donors, including Ray Pounds, whose heartfelt contribution in memory of his late wife, Denise, led to a patient room being named in her honor.
The unveiling was attended by several local officials, including Petaluma Mayor Kevin McDonnell and Vice Mayor Karen Nau, alongside numerous caregivers and physicians.
Lucas King, MD, orthopedic surgeon with Providence Medical Group, shared his thoughts on the new unit’s impact: "The unit is just another steppingstone to giving patients a phenomenal outcome. You get to go upstairs, and everyone is prepared for a total knee, total hip and total shoulder surgery—whatever it is, they know how to deal with it, they know how to get you better and they know how to get you out of the hospital, because ultimately, that's the goal."
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this important launch.
