I Want to Write About Awakening
The kind that brings new awareness, new actions.
Have you ever had this experience? You may have and didn't even notice. It can be subtle.
Something appears within, a new direction, an impulse, often a thought. It's motivating enough that we do something totally new, so a new action arises from this awakened impulse.
I've noticed how this awakening can be embodied. It shows up first as a subtle sensation in one of the major energy centers - head, heart or hara (belly).
It's most common in the head, leading to excited thoughts. It can feel like some kind of flash, the "lightbulb" that switches on. This often leads to speedy action. We may not even notice.
What about when it happens in the heart? This happened to me recently. A moment of opening and softening right under my sternum that felt very fresh, bringing tears to my eyes.
I realized how rarely I give attention to my heart. And how deep this attention can go, bringing me to a sense of awe at whatever I'm present with. This is real life around me, not just a mental movie!
It was memorable enough that I know it has led me to a new action of giving attention here.
Then there's the belly. What's belly awareness like for you?
It may be uncomfortable at first, coming from such a deep, mysterious and visceral part of ourselves.
But there's a kind of knowing in our bellies that can inform where neither head nor heart are concerned - grounded and realistic knowing.
Those gurgles and sensations can be messages that deserve attention. This is how I may know a major purchase isn't right, or feel truly safe with people around me.
The point is to listen from the inside out, to listen to the whole of ourselves. As we heal we open to our fully embodied experience bit by bit, spiraling ever deeper while expanding outward.
A blessing on your spiraling-in-expanding-out journey ~
