Women Need CPR, too.
Only about 41% of people who experience cardiac arrest receive CPR from a bystander before EMS arrives. When performed immediately, CPR can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival.
Yet women are less likely to receive bystander CPR: 39% compared with 45% of men. As a result, men’s odds of surviving cardiac arrest are 23% higher than women’s.
Barriers include fear of legal repercussions and concerns about inappropriate touching. That hesitation can cost valuable seconds.
That’s why HealthQuest CPR has integrated female anatomy manikins into our courses so participants can train realistically, build confidence, and feel prepared to act for anyone, regardless of gender.
Learn CPR. Overcome hesitation. Help save a life.

February isn’t just about chocolates and roses—it’s about taking care of the engine that keeps you going.
Heart Disease remains the leading cause of death in the country, however 80% of heart disease deaths are preventable through proactive lifestyle changes and management of key health factors.
Simple, consistent habits are crucial to the prevention of heart disease.
This month gather your loved ones and let’s commit to prioritizing daily habits to help prevent heart disease.
• Choosing heart healthy foods: Fresh vegetables, fruits, fatty fish, legumes, lean poultry, whole grains, healthy fats like avocados nuts and seeds, and dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa are rich in flavonoids
• Avoiding to***co: Quit smoking or va**ng in all forms. The risk of heart disease starts to drop just 24 hours after quitting.
• Moving more (even a 20 min. walk benefits your heart)
• Prioritize sleep: Ensure you get 7–9 hours of quality sleep per night. Poor sleep is linked to higher risks of high blood pressure and obesity.
• Managing stress: Practice relaxation techniques like meditation, deep breathing, or laughter therapy to lower heart rate and blood pressure.
• Getting regular check-ups
• Monitoring your numbers: blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and weight

We are proud to share our 2025 Annual Report which is a comprehensive look at how we are deepening our work and investing in the health of our community. As detailed in the report, Healthy Petaluma invested $1.973 million to address health equity and resiliency across Southern Sonoma County. Thirty-two organizations received funding and support to prevent crises and strengthen the safety net for families, youth, and older adults facing food and housing insecurity. An additional 11 nonprofits received funding focused specifically on prevention and well-being for youth and young adults. Healthy Petaluma also hosted its second countywide, free Youth and Young Adult Cardiac Screening where 267 individuals received a screening. Several of these participants identified a cardiac family history or symptoms, and 400 attendees (youth and parents) learned hands-only CPR. ⭐️
