Muir Wood Healthcare hosted our Open House for our “new” Clovis/Fresno IOP yesterday and to continue expanding access to high-quality mental health and substance use treatment for teens and their families in The Central Valley. Thank you to David Tangipa, Assembly Member and Shannon Grove, California State Senator, for sending representatives to support us. A big thank you to Fresno Chamber of Commerce for hosting our ribbon cutting. To our new and old friends, referents and partners Muir Wood Healthcare is honored to support the greater Fresno community, where they focus on well-being and create the ideal environment for healing and growth with a commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care.

As we celebrate the release of “Healthcare is a Right: A Memoir”, let’s pause to celebrate the remarkable life, and continued wonder that is Dr. Smith, and the massive influence he continues to have on the lives of so many struggling from the disease of addiction. To quote Dave, “Live long and prosper.” Dr Smith has been not only instrumental in the foundations of Muir Wood and overall adolescent treatment for generations but also the overarching philosophy of addiction medicine and we are so grateful to celebrate his knowledge and career with his new book!

Muir Woods’ team is so proud to announce that Rawland Glass, MSW, LCSW will be joining us full time as our director of family support services. Rawland has been a clinician and social worker for the past 40 years, including private practice and development and presenter on inner healing workshops, as well as involved in Muir Wood since its beginnings. He has a broad experience base including managing addiction treatment contracts for the state of Idaho; serving as executive director of a non-profit which provided transition housing; working with various vulnerable populations in adult and child protection, managing group homes for “at-risk” children, Clinical Director and then Chief Clinical Officer, and development of online classes for families. His recent private practice has had a special emphasis on family work and parent support and coaching; we are so grateful to welcome him to strengthen our commitment to not only bettering the lives of adolescents, but also helping to impact their parents, families and home lives positively. ✨
