Hope For The Home

Hope For The Home Promoting the Gospel through the family and strengthening relationships that matter the most. Welcome. My name is Jason McBride.

I am married to my lovely wife, Natalie, and we have 11 beautiful children. We are nestled on a little homestead tucked away in the country. Our hearts desire is to be an encouragement and bring hope to other families where we see relationships being restored, and marriages become unbreakable. Our prayer is that we become a blessing to you as we open up our lives and share our hearts. We want families to be a stronger, tighter unit so that they can give each new generation a foundation to build upon. We aren’t perfect people, and are just like everyone else with the same struggles. But we do desire to equip God’s people with the things Natalie and I have learned together. We feel honored you are here and look forward to hearing from you.

A random Friday morning on the porch turned out to be a highlight of the day.

I love listening to their wheels turn and explaining the hope we have in Christ. 💙🩷

There’s lots going on in the world the past few days and daily sacrifices are being made everywhere.

Yesterday, our local community lined the interstate and local highways holding American flags high as the funeral procession passed through. Two of our police officers were killed in the line of duty this week; two others were injured. Sheriff Cole spoke on behalf of both men in the caskets.

I’m so grateful we have leaders that profess their faith openly, and that our sheriff holds his team together with such confidence. These leaders brought our surrounding counties together in the midst of chaos and it is evident that they all have our upmost respect. The older I get, the more I see tragedies bringing out the best in others, especially where there is a need.

As our community mourns this great loss, we pray for peace and comfort for both families. We will support them in whatever way we can. And we should do this together as a community. When one sacrifices his life for the sake of another’s safety, we all need to be honoring their widows, and now orphans.

May God continue to protect our nation and bring peace to a hurting world.

This is my friend Ms. Lois and a little peek into her love story with her sweet husband, Joe. Come join us on YouTube as she shares her testimony from growing up in rural America to meeting her husband in college, to trusting the Lord in good times, and in the hard times.

Link will be in my stories and the highlight under “podcast.”

She’s a beautiful testament of how faithful our God is, especially in times of need.

Have a beautiful day.

As I went around the table checking everyone’s bookwork this morning, I saw this. I know I’m his favorite adult in the house right now, soon it will be his daddy, then it may be his bigger brothers someday. And I find this so endearing.

I can not imagine my life in any other environment but being available to them each morning devouring good learning material together.

For the past almost 30 years of mothering, it has been a journey of faith failing forward, picking myself back up on hard days, rejoicing on the good days, and finding it amazing that God loves all eleven of them more than Jason or I ever could.

I stand grateful for all that He has provided.

Ms. Lois is one of my favorite people in the entire world. There’s nothing like gleaning wisdom from the older generation. Those whom have gone before us to trail-blaze a path, been faithful servants of God, and who finish well is an encouragement. To watch the entire interview, head over to Hope for the Home on YouTube.

Praying her testimony of God’s faithfulness in the hardest of seasons blesses you as much as it has me. Link in my bio and saved in the highlight “podcast.”

Have a beautiful day!
Natalie 💛

The snow came and has gone. The kids spent hours building their igloo and were covered in icy mud by the time they were done. This might be our last bit of snow for the year and it was fun while it lasted. ❄️

Every homeschooling parent should listen to this. Nicki is talking about the handouts and incisives the government offers to homeschool parents.
I’ve been saying this for years. Money is a strong influence, that if taken, will eventually compromise principles. Government handouts are not the answer.

If we aren’t carefully evaluating the motive behind these incentives, homeschooling families will find themselves lowering their standards one passed bill at a time. Just because it’s packaged as a “gift” doesn’t mean you should take it.

Anyone else have mounds of laundry after a busy weekend? And what is it with the mystery of missing socks? I’ve done laundry most of my life and I am convinced I will never will solve this crime. ☺️
With all this dry air and static, we found some missing pairs on the inside of a few sweaters today, but I still have about 20 socks without a mate. 🤷‍♀️

I like to hang dry my laundry, and most of the year you can find me assembling the clothes on the line unless it’s 2*. 🥶 Hang drying also helps with the static, but especially today since it is supposed to be in the upper 50s.

Thanks to Papa Danny for making my clothesline all those years ago. We’ve saved a lot of money using the fresh air. ☀️
Yay for sunshine too because we are enjoying the snow for a little while longer. ❄️

Trying to raise children in peace can be a challenge when the world is burning down. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Don’t borrow trouble. Today has enough problems of its own.” You can turn off the noise. You can choose to listen to encouraging messages. You can choose friendships who uplift and motivate the people around them. And in turn be the friend who will rejoice when they rejoice, and weep when they weep. Creating a peaceful home doesn’t mean you have to live in a cave or be uninformed about the world around you. It just means there’s a time and place for everything. Young children don’t need to live in fear of what’s happening tomorrow. Train them to be aware of their surroundings. Teach them how to respond to the world’s hatefulness. But don’t cultivate anxiety and fear where they should feel the safest. There will be opportunities in their life to see and hear of the atrocities in this world. Your timing is everything. Parents today have to approach their world so differently than the generations before them. Children have a lot of ideological views being thrown their way, and parents are having to decide how much technology should be available to their children. We are the first generation to be handed brand new issues that no one before us had to worry about. Parents today have to decide the balance of what their children should know, at how early of an age, and at what season of life it’s appropriate. Information given to them should be incremental. When the world is in shambles, use a portion of difficult circumstances to shape their views toward being generous with what is given to them, being helpful to those in need, and having a joyful spirit as they serve others who are hurting. It’s not easy watching the world burn, but I’m positive that we aren’t the only generation of parents that have ever had to endure suffering for one another. Teach your children to be able to have endurance in hard times. Soft manhood isn’t an option.

While my young boys can sit and have tea parties with their sisters, my other boys are outside using a chainsaw and chopping wood so we stay warm tonight.

Stay faithful.
