Once a residential home to a large family it has been converted to an assisted living home while maintaining the feeling of a home. We are small, only 15 residents, and can provide one on one individual care. We can cater to each individual and meets their needs much better than a larger facility could manage. Our residents become family and we treat them like family. When care increases we do all we can to maintain them at our home even through the end of life circumstances. We encourage and welcome family visits and gatherings just as if the home was theirs. We even have a guest room for our out of town family and guests. Why choose Lakewood? We understand it’s difficult to leave home but our goal is to make Lakewood the next best place to home. Lakewood promises excellent care and individual attention while keeping our rates the most affordable rates in our area! We understand that caregiver sometimes need a break from the demands of caring for a loved one at home so we also provide respite care with daily rates. Or perhaps your family member just needs a few weeks of extra care following a surgery or illness as well. We work hard to meet the needs of our community. Lakewood Home extends its sincerest appreciation to all veterans and active service members today. We express our deepest gratitude to each of you.
We took a moment to honor our resident veteran, Donnie Stewart, who dedicated 25 years to the United States Navy. As our sole veteran, Donnie holds a special place in our hearts. We also paid tribute to fallen heroes and heard the story of one resident's ultimate sacrifice, losing her 21-year-old son during the war. However, she also lifted our spirits by sharing the miraculous rescue of her brother, who was shot down in Germany and saved by strangers in a foreign land who sacrificed their own lives to save his. Others shared their experiences during the war, recounting countless weeks spent waiting for letters or telegrams confirming their loved ones' survival. Our hearts were full and our eyes were misty as each shared their own story. We can gain invaluable insights from this generation. If only they could share their stories with our youth in high schools, it would undoubtedly foster a deeper appreciation for our freedom. We express our heartfelt gratitude to all who have served and continue to serve today. God bless the USA.
A special thanks to Aseracare hospice for presenting this program and to the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion for helping us honor our heroes.

A light blanket of snow dusting the fall leaves and flowers hints at the change of the seasons. Maybe you or someone you know needs a change of scenery? The cold winter days can be lengthy for those confined to their homes, but not at Lakewood. Our residents enjoy the benefits of community living in a small, family-style assisted living environment. Few homes like ours exist, and everyone who visits remarks that there is no other place comparable. We offer short-term stays as well as long-term contracts. We invite you to see for yourself.

Happy Fall y’all.
Today the ladies created “happy fall hedgehogs”. I am uncertain who is cuter, these ladies or the hedgehogs? We appreciated the warm weather and went outstde after craft and discovered an abundance of vibrant colors still to enjoy. It appears particularly beautiful this year and like one person said, “driving back here seems like you get a little hug from heaven.”

With the next season approaching, the ladies at Lakewood have been creating a Christmas garland to adorn our fireplace mantel. They are a creative, crafty group, taking pride in their part in seasonal decorations. My favorite decorations are those crafted by family, which is precisely what we have at Lakewood – a family. If you or a loved one would like to join us for a craft, please do not hesitate to let us know. If you would like to volunteer with your own craft idea, our residents would welcome the company and activity. We always appreciate having extras at the table, and children are especially welcome, as they bring energy and creativity to the day. As cold weather sets in, our residents are more confined indoors, so we are always eager to introduce new activities into the home. Even if it’s not our home, I encourage you to reach out to those in nursing homes and assisted living homes. This population gave so much during their lives, so take time to give back. I promise that you will be blessed❤️.

The road to home.

This time of year is particularly scenic, with pleasant weather and vibrant fall foliage. As the seasons change, each one reveals its unique beauty. If you or a loved one are currently navigating a season of change and require support with daily living, it may be your season to consider assisted living. Let us know! We would be delighted to provide a tour and address any questions you may have. I often recommend trying it out for a month or two to gain a feel for it before making a decision. Ask questions to those living there and about their experience transitioning from home to assisted living. Being part of a community that shares meals and life experiences can be incredibly enriching. In my experience, individuals consistently thrive when they join the Lakewood community. Maybe Lakewood is your road to home too.

Fridays are designated craft days at Lakewood Home. Today, residents engaged in painting small wooden pumpkins and recently created beaded Indian corn and mod podge initials for their doors. All projects turned out great! Our home is beautifully highlighted with homemade crafts created by our residents. You are welcome to visit at any time for a tour. If you or a loved one require assisted living, we believe we offer a wonderful place to call home.

Embracing the magic of fall, our residents came together to craft beautiful fall garlands, celebrating the spirit of family and connection that defines life at Lakewood. The Center pumpkin's heartfelt message, 'gathered together,' reflects our daily commitment to unity and gratitude as we live life together. Each garland, uniquely designed by our residents with their names on it, and some included their loved ones' names, symbolizes the uniqueness of each one of our residents. The twine that binds them together represents how each one of our residents are separate yet bound together. Each day, I see them, and sometimes their family members help each other, celebrate with each other, encourage each other, and lift each other. It is a special place because of these special people.

91 years young!!! How do you celebrate a 91st birthday in a way that shows you’ve still got it? Some might sit back and feel old, but not our competitive, spunky, fun Barbara, who proves that age is just a number. Her party started with an ice cream cake and heartfelt cards from her friends at Lakewood, followed by a beach party volleyball game that showed off her youthful energy, all while listening to Jimmy Buffett and cooling off with a refreshing cold pina colada! Happy birthday Barbara and stay young!
