Michael Triggs, CEO of Poplar Springs Hospital, recently served as the keynote speaker at the Community Counts: Legislative Breakfast. In his role as Board Director of the Virginia Association of Independent Special Education Facilities, Mr. Triggs spoke passionately to lawmakers, educators and families about the importance of special education and the meaningful impact it has on our communities.
His message aligns perfectly with October’s observances of ADHD Awareness Month and Mental Illness Awareness Week, both of which highlight the importance of understanding, early intervention and continued support for individuals with unique learning and behavioral health needs.

Support Starts Here
Whether you're seeking support full-time or part-time, our outpatient programs are designed to help you thrive — not just survive.
We offer compassionate care, flexible options and a community that understands what you're going through.
Did you know that something as simple as a uniform can help reduce stress at work? Having a unified dress code takes away the daily pressure of deciding what to wear, which means one less thing to worry about before your day begins. This helps minimize decision fatigue, the mental exhaustion that comes from making too many small choices throughout the day.
Uniforms also help create a sense of belonging and teamwork. When everyone feels like part of the same group, it boosts morale, unity, and focus across the workplace.
At Poplar Springs Hospital, our Patient Access department voted for a unified dress code, and we answered the call. We value a supportive environment that promotes mental well-being for both our patients and our team.
On Mental Health Awareness Day, we wanted to share that if you’re looking to work in a positive, team-oriented environment where mental health matters.
Taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health. Reaching out for support shows courage, self-awareness and a commitment to your well-being.
You are not alone. You are stronger than you think.
Poplar Springs Hospital is proud to announce that our CEO, Michael Triggs, will be a featured speaker at Community Counts: A Legislative Breakfast hosted by PHILLIPS Programs in recognition of Virginia’s Specialized Education School Week (Oct 6–10, 2025).
Date: Tuesday, October 7, 2025
Time: 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM (light breakfast served)
Location: PHILLIPS School ~ Annandale, 7010 Braddock Road, Annandale, VA
This event will bring together community leaders, educators, and healthcare professionals to discuss ways to better support students and families in specialized education.
Understanding the levels of care in mental health treatment is key to finding the right support. Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers structured, daytime treatment for individuals requiring intensive support, while our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides a more flexible, part-time approach to therapy. Each program is designed to meet different needs on the path to recovery.
Whether you're exploring options for yourself or a loved one, we’re here to help. Learn more by visiting us at https://poplarsprings.com/
