Tongue ties are often talked about as a “mouth issue” or a quick fix—but there’s usually more happening beneath the surface.

Tongue function is deeply connected to the nervous system. When a baby is under stress or stuck in a constant alert state, tension can show up throughout the body, including the tissues of the mouth.

That’s why some families notice that even after a tongue tie revision, symptoms like feeding challenges, reflux, tension, or sleep struggles can continue—or even worsen.

Supporting the nervous system helps address why the tension is there in the first place, not just where it shows up.

This article explains how tongue ties, nervous system regulation, and whole-body function are connected—and why a more comprehensive approach matters for babies and families.

Pregnancy, birth, and early development are all connected—and the nervous system plays a central role in how the body adapts through each stage.

Birth + Beyond is an educational workshop created for expecting parents and families who want to better understand what supports regulation, resilience, and recovery during pregnancy and beyond.

This isn’t about doing more or being perfect. It’s about understanding what’s happening in the body and feeling supported along the way.

Pregnancy, birth, and early development are often talked about in pieces—but the nervous system connects all of it.

In this video, Dr. Mike explains why stress during pregnancy doesn’t just “go away,” how the nervous system influences adaptation during pregnancy and birth, and why supporting regulation—not forcing outcomes—matters so much for moms and babies.

This conversation isn’t about fear or blame. It’s about understanding how the body responds to stress and how support can change that story.

If you’re pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or raising young kids, this is information every family deserves access to.

If you’re pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or raising young children and want a deeper understanding of how the nervous system impacts pregnancy, birth, and early development, we’re hosting a Birth + Beyond Workshop on February 26th.

This is an educational, pressure-free evening designed to help parents feel informed, supported, and prepared.

Many moms who are told they’re “high-risk” for pre-eclampsia are understandably confused—why is this happening, and what can I do about it?

When we break it down to the root, pre-eclampsia is often more about how the nervous system is responding to stress than just a blood pressure number.

One way to think about it:

🚗 Gas pedal = stress and alert mode
🚗 Brake pedal = rest, growth, and healing

Pregnancy asks the body to spend more time in that “brake pedal” state so blood vessels can soften, circulation can adapt, and baby can grow. When stress has been present for a long time, those shifts can be harder for the body to access.

Research shows ongoing maternal stress is strongly linked to a higher risk of pre-eclampsia—but this isn’t about blame. Moms deserve explanations that feel empowering, not scary.

When the nervous system feels supported and safe, the body is often better able to do what it was designed to do during pregnancy. That’s the lens we use at Petersburg Family Chiropractic.

If you’re pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or supporting someone who is, we’d love to have you at our free Birth + Beyond Workshop on February 26th.

Pregnancy doesn’t just affect muscles and joints—it places ongoing demands on the nervous system.

When stress builds over time, the body can struggle to regulate things like circulation, inflammation, and overall balance. That doesn’t mean something is “wrong.” It means the body may need support.

Nervous system–focused care during pregnancy is about helping the body adapt and respond the way it was designed to.

If this connects with something you’ve experienced, you’re not imagining it—and you’re not alone.

If you’re pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or raising young kids and want to better understand how the nervous system impacts pregnancy, birth, and early development, we’re hosting a Birth + Beyond Workshop on the 26th.

This is an educational evening designed to help parents connect the dots and feel more prepared—not overwhelmed.

Pre-eclampsia is often treated like a sudden problem.
But for many moms, it’s not the start of the story—it’s a sign the body has been under stress for a long time.

High blood pressure in pregnancy is rarely just about blood pressure.
It’s often connected to how the nervous system has been coping with stress, tension, and overload.

Your nervous system helps regulate:
• Blood vessel tone
• Hormone release
• Inflammation
• Placental blood flow

When the body stays stuck in fight-or-flight, blood vessels constrict—and pressure can rise.

Pregnancy thrives in a parasympathetic state: rest, safety, and support.
But chronic stress, physical tension, poor sleep, past trauma, and lack of support can keep the nervous system on edge—even when mom is doing everything “right.”

Supporting the nervous system through gentle, focused care can help the body regulate, adapt, and prepare for birth more effectively.

✨ Farewell, Hailey! ✨

Friday was Hailey’s last day with us, and while we’re sad to see her go, we’re incredibly excited for what’s ahead for her. She’s stepping into a full-time position right here in Petersburg while continuing to pursue her education — and we couldn’t be more proud of her.

Hailey played a pivotal role in our social media, bringing creativity, fun, and energy to our Reels in a way that truly reflected who we are. Beyond her talent, it was her kindness, joyfulness, and genuine heart that made her such a pleasure to work with every single day.

Thank you, Hailey, for everything you gave to our team — you’ll always be part of the PFC family 💛

Wishing you nothing but success and joy in this next chapter!

Sunday Stillness 🤍

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?”
— Isaiah 43:18–19

Today is not about fixing everything.
It’s about resting in the truth that God is already at work — even in the quiet, even in the waiting.

If this season feels slow, heavy, or uncertain…
take heart. 🌱
New life often begins beneath the surface.

May your home be filled with peace, your heart with hope,
and your mind with trust in what God is growing next. 🤍

Happy Sunday.
