Spotlight Resident:
Mr. Lonnie is our resident of the week. He’s been with us for over a year and says he loves living here. He retired from Honeywell Carpet and Tire Core B Plant after 40 yrs of service but not before he found his love for cross- stitching which was taught to him by his female coworkers during their lunch break.
Lonnie is Native American of the Cherokee Tribe of North Carolina. He is originally from Paynesville Ohio, and grew up in a military family. It was during this time that he was able to travel and see the world, and although he’s seen see some amazing places, he says his two most favorite places were Heidelberg Germany and Fort Wainwright Alaska where he also attended the University of Alaska. Lonnie says he has many proud accomplishments but says he’s most proud of being able to walk the Grand Canyon.
The photo Lonnie is holding is a cross-stitch of Chief Red-cloud of the Lakota Sioux Indian Tribe of South Dakota. It took Lonnie 2 years to complete as he started working on it in 1999, and completed it in 2001.
