Mediation commonly involves General Civil types of cases. These are cases that can be heard in either District Court or Circuit Court. The types of cases considered to be General Civil are Breach of Contract, disagreements between consumers and merchants, disputes between professionals and clients, debts, issues relating to property and real estate, and neighborhood disputes.

General Civil District Court disputes involve cases valued up to $25,000. Although not required to do so, disputants can be represented by attorneys.

To say the very least, divorce and domestic disputes are emotional roller coasters no matter what the circumstances are. Having trained mediators who help the parties communicate with one another so that they themselves can resolve their disagreements makes the divorce or domestic dispute more tolerable and acceptable.

To say the very least, divorce and domestic disputes are emotional roller coasters no matter what the circumstances are. The tension becomes even greater once the court gets involved. Although mediation does not remove the pressure, it can ease the feelings of resentment, abandonment, anxiety, and hostility.

Having trained mediators who help the parties communicate with one another so that they themselves can resolve their disagreements makes the divorce or domestic dispute more tolerable and acceptable. By having an active voice in decisions relating to the division of property and disbursement of assets, the involved parties feel that the mediation process is fairer than what the court may have handed down in terms of a judgment.
