Stroke Rehab - Can be FUN!! Everyone wants to feed Ruby the Therapy Dog! Client working on shoulder abduction and elbow extension with a carrot held by his pinky finger. Ruby is waiting so patiently as she know the reward is a 🥕, her favorite treat.

This client has a smile on his face and fully motivated to give Ruby her carrot.

This is neuro rehab. It’s hard. It’s frustrating. It’s slower than desired.

But with practice, purposeful engagement, and external focus ….. wonderful neuron growth can happen!!! He went from not able to move his arm to gaining success with placing hand on a bar to pull himself up, stabilize himself so his right hand is available for tasks and can now transfer himself!!!! When he first came to therapy with us he had no arm movement.

When you come to therapy clients prepare to work hard to make the gains they want. Client is relearning to move, trust, and feel his left arm and leg to stabilize and move during functional activities. We are all so PROUD of this clients great progress and want to thank him for working so hard with us. We are eager to see his progress continue!!!

One way or another “We Will, We Will Rock You!”

Neuroplasticity is possible even after 20+ years. It’s hard work but with 1000’s of repetitions improvements can happen. What better way to put in the repetitions than having a great time. Client is regaining function of upper extremity shoulder flexion, elbow flexion/ extension, shoulder abduction and more by rocking out to some of the best music. (I was playing the air guitar behind the scenes😁).

Crank it up and Rock it out at home on the air guitar, pat your lap to the beat, clap your hands and keep the beat. Music is a great motivator for gaining back movements.

We had a “Dog-gone” good time today in therapy making dog treats!

They were “Lab” tested and approved.

Client worked on fine motor, shoulder mobility, reaching, grasping, turning forearm, bileteral coordination, attention to task, standing endurance, and more.
