Our residents took a trip to the newly created Don & Eileen Klein Nature Trail and Boardwalk in East Jordan. This universally accessible trail takes you along the beautiful Jordan River. They enjoyed a picnic lunch 🥙 prepared by our Chef at the new picnic pavilion. This area is a nature photographer’s and bird watcher’s paradise! Then they traveled on our comfortable new shuttle van along the picturesque C-48, The Breezeway, exploring the countryside and quaint small towns. A lovely way to spend a beautiful Fall day!

⚾️⚾️ Bats were swinging and spirits were soaring as Independence Village Plymouth and StoryPoint Northville took the field for abaseball showdown. 🧢 The final score may have been a tie, but this game knocked it out of the park for fun, friendship, and friendly competition. ❤️✨

The 1st Annual Senior Living Culinary Challenge is here — an American Culinary Federation competition celebrating the passion, creativity, and skill of chefs redefining dining in senior living.

We’re proud to have 10 StoryPoint Group chefs competing alongside peers from across the industry, all showcasing dishes that bring comfort, joy, and flavor to the seniors they serve every day.

The competition will take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the GFS Corporate Headquarters in Grand Rapids, MI.

The music was playing, everyone was dancing, and the love in the room never missed a beat. ❤️✨

Grandparent’s Day 2025 was special for all of our community grandparents! Each grandparent was given a card, flower and sparkling ✨ mimosa 🥂 to celebrate this special occasion. The special brunch was dedicated to Grandparent’s Day and was beautifully designed and prepared by our culinary team!

Our Executive Director held a special “Fire Training- as a resident…what you need to know” session for all residents. This was very well attended and extremely appreciated by our residents. Fire safety is of utmost importance to us at Independence Village of Petoskey. We will be repeating this every 6 months.

At 98, the captain of the Little Traverse Bay ferry, “ the Harbor Princess “ announced that resident Martha Saunders is the oldest person to have ever captained his ship! A big group of residents took a 1.5 hour picturesque cruise on Little Traverse Bay, narrated by a guide. The cruise began in Bayfront Park at the Petoskey City Marina, and journeyed around the bay to Harbor Springs and Bay Harbor! Views were spectacular! Northern Michigan at her peak!

We’ve officially wrapped up the 8th Annual Aging Gracefully at Bayview event! This year featured an outstanding lineup of speakers who shared valuable insights on a wide range of senior health care topics. It was an enriching experience filled with learning, connection, and community.

Our residents had the privilige to attend a fascinating guest speaker program at Bay View Association. Documentarian Taylor Dueweke and historian Chris Struble brought to life the many forgotten stories about the historic Club Manitou/Club Ponytail. What began as an infamous nightclub/casino run by the Purple Gang during Prohibition, went on to become a vibrant club for teens featuring big-name musical acts like Roy Orbison, the Four Tops, The Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, Del Shannon, the Animals and the Turtles. This presentation was excellent!

The Director of the Mackinac Bridge Kim Nowack visited our community to delve into the history of the”Mighty Mac.” This major innovation certainly affected all generations as the 2 land masses of Michigan were connected enabling millions of people access to the upper peninsula. Our residents were treated with hand made Mackinac Island fudge for tasting. Kim explained the history and current-day challenges maintaining this modern engineering marvel.
