🌸 Happy Mother’s Day! 💐

Today we celebrate the incredible women who have shaped our lives with love, strength, and endless care. Mother’s Day is more than just flowers and cards—it’s a time to honor the mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures who have guided us, supported us, and cheered us on through every stage of life.

Did you know Mother’s Day became an official holiday in the United States in 1914? It was established to recognize the compassion and dedication of mothers everywhere—and over the years, it has grown into a day filled with heartfelt traditions. Many people celebrate by giving flowers (especially carnations and tulips 🌷), sharing meals together, writing thoughtful notes, or simply spending quality time with loved ones.

Here at Cecelia Place, we’re celebrating the beautiful mothers in our community—past and present—who continue to inspire us every day. 💖

To all the moms out there: thank you for everything you do, today and always.

KENTUCKY DERBY DAY!!!

The 2026 Kentucky Derby—known as “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports”—did not disappoint! Held at Churchill Downs in Louisville, the race featured a full field of top three-year-old thoroughbreds and a crowd of over 150,000 spectators. This year’s winner was Golden Tempo, a 23-1 longshot, who made an incredible come-from-behind run to win in the final stretch.

Ridden by jockey Jose Ortiz, Golden Tempo edged out favorite Renegade for the victory, while Ocelli finished third. The win was especially historic, as trainer Cherie DeVaux became the first woman ever to train a Kentucky Derby winner.

A thrilling race, a surprise finish, and a little history made—just another unforgettable Run for the Roses! 🌹🐎

🌹 Hats Off to Derby Day!

Our residents had an absolute blast getting ready for the Kentucky Derby last weekend! 🌹👒

In the days leading up to the big race, we hosted a hat-making activity where everyone designed their own unique Derby hats—complete with bright colors, ribbons, flowers, and plenty of personality. The creativity in the room was incredible, and it was so much fun seeing each resident bring their own style to life. By the time Derby Day arrived, we had a full lineup of fabulous hats ready for the celebration!

The Kentucky Derby, often called “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports,” has been held every year since 1875 in Louisville, Kentucky. It’s known not only for the thrilling horse race, but also for its long-standing traditions—like extravagant hats, festive attire, and of course, cheering on your favorite horse.

CINCO DE MAYO PARTY PICS (PART 1)

🎉 Our Cinco de Mayo celebration at Cecelia Place was filled with delicious food, colorful decorations, laughter, and wonderful company! 🌮🌶️💃

Residents enjoyed a festive afternoon of tasty Mexican favorites, cheerful music, and plenty of smiles as we celebrated together. The dining room was full of bright Cinco de Mayo décor and even brighter spirits!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special. Judging by these photos, it’s safe to say a great time was had by all! ❤️
