Congratulations! You have just survived one of the most tumultuous years in recent history.
If you are like me, the challenges of this year took you to a place of introspection, about what you believe, about how you spend your time, and about what new things you’d like to create in your life.
You know, it is a quirk of the human condition that when we are nice and comfortable, we are not likely to make changes. It is the pain, the disruptions in our life that motivate us to grow, to try new things.
I hereby name this push to self-reflection and growth, the unexpected gift of the pandemic - The ‘Rona Bonus.
And with the New Year, there is an energy for transformation, for new beginnings we can’t deny. That’s why creating New Year’s Resolutions is a time-honored tradition.
So, I ask you dear friend, in this bright new shiny 2021, what is it you would Love to create in your life?
The time is ripe to begin your journey of healing and growth.
There is just one problem…Change is HARD!
By the end of January, 85% of people’s New Year’s Resolutions are cast aside. Yikes!
The truth is we humans are creatures of habit. We like feelings of safety and security and this locks us into our old routines and habits, even if they are not working for us.
It takes a lot of effort, it takes stepping outside of our comfort zone and taking risks to create lasting, meaningful change—with no guarantees that all our efforts will be successful.
That my friends, is scary stuff and if you already feel like you have too much on your plate, the whole change process can feel daunting, overwhelming even.
And yet, we want growth, we want healing, we want a joy filled and satisfying life.
So how can we be more successful with our growth intentions?
Here are a few tips…
*Take time to reflect, to meditate, to journal on what you truly desire to create in in your life. Come from your heart space, from you Inner Wisdom, vs. the “should” and “musts” of your ego. Ask “What would I love?”
*Keep it simple. Start with one, maybe two, areas for change in your life and keep your goals very doable (you can always upgrade later on). “I will engage in healthy movement for at least 20 minutes, 3 days a week.” “I will give myself 5 minutes each morning to breath deeply and count my blessings.”
*Hold a vision, a very detailed picture of what the changed, empowered you will look like. Create an intimate connection to that future self and see her encouraging you every step of the way.
*Get some healthy support. Secret goals are the first to die. Share with trusted, like-minded others, your intentions and ask for encouragement and even help with accountability. If you need professional guidance to reach you goals, know that you are worth it, and get the help.
*Be very patient and kind with yourself. Beating yourself up will not help you stick to your intentions (you have already tried this method and it didn’t work). Self-compassion, on the other hand, has been proven by research to be very beneficial and it feels nice. Become your own BFF.
I wish you great success in achieving your heart's desires and deepest yearnings. I truly want you to feel Fabulous!
Keep an eye out for a special opportunity coming the end of January (23rd or 24th), where I will be offering my powerful free workshop “A Taste of Fabulous”, designed to help you define your intentions and begin your growth journey.
With Power and Compassion,
Dr. Diane
