Pflugerville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

Pflugerville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center We provide short and long-term skilled nursing care that helps older adults achieve true wellness. We are a non-profit, and that’s an important difference.

Our focus is on strengthening the families and communities we care for. Post-operative care, Wound Care, IV Therapy, and an in-house rehabilitation team are some services that make our facility different. Unlike others who contract their therapists, we have an in-house therapy team. This means our goal is to have patients and residents see the same occupational, speech, or physical therapists daily, which builds a strong line of trust and rapport.

👋 This week, we had a great time connecting and networking with our Wellsential Health sister facility — Southpark Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center!

We love getting out into the community to share what makes our facilities special. These face-to-face visits with our partners in caring help us spread the word about the skilled nursing services we offer. It's always inspiring to share ideas, support one another, and strengthen our connections.💙

🧠 Today is World Brain Day! We’re taking a moment to highlight the many ways we can support brain health, especially as we age. We encourage patients and residents to stay engaged through activities such as puzzles, reading, and group discussions. Daily movement, such as gentle stretching or walking, helps keep both the body and brain strong.

A healthy diet, adequate sleep, social connections, and effective management of chronic conditions are vital for maintaining cognitive health. For aging adults, social activity promotes independence and improves quality of life. Regular medical check-ups help in the early detection of cognitive issues, such as mild cognitive impairment and dementia.

Let’s keep our brains active, engaged, and supported every day — not just on World Brain Day! To learn more about brain health, follow the World Federation of Neurology - WFN. ✨️

July is Healthy Vision Month! 🥕🕶️ This month highlights the importance of safeguarding our eye health as we grow older. Our network is committed to wellness, and assisting patients and residents facing vision challenges is an integral part of our mission.

Here are just a few ways we help protect healthy vision in our community:
✅ Regular eye exams to catch issues early
🥬 Meals packed with eye-healthy foods like leafy greens and fish
🧴 UV protection during outdoor activities with sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats when possible
💊 Managing chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure
🚭 Encouraging smoking cessation for better long-term eye health
💧 Preventing dry eyes with hydration and proper room humidity

Clear vision is a crucial component of safe, independent living, and we’re proud to support residents on their journey to wellness. To learn more about your eye health, follow the National Eye Institute. 👀

Today, we honor Juneteenth, a pivotal moment in our nation’s history and a time for reflection and celebration. On June 19, 1865, more than 2,000 Union troops reached Galveston Bay, Texas. This day, now known as “Juneteenth,” represents freedom in Texas and highlights the ongoing fight for equality and justice.

Let’s come together to reflect on our past, celebrate progress, and recommit ourselves to fostering a more inclusive and equitable future for all.

To learn more about the history of Juneteenth, visit the Texas State Historical Association website: TSHAOnline.org/handbook/entries/juneteenth 🖤
