It took longer than we had planned but, finally, it has happened. Princess Chinwendu Eke Scholarship Endowment at the University of Houston is ready to give its first recipient! My feelings are so mixed! God is faithful. Princess will continue to make positive impact to humanity as she dreamt before her untimely demise! It’s very fulfilling to us her family. 🥲😃!
“Distribution Timeline
All endowed funds at the University, once fully funded, will be invested for a full fiscal year before disbursing funds. Our fiscal year runs from September 1st - August 31 annually. VP Dunlavy confirmed that your endowment was considered fully funded in Fiscal Year 2025, as of your gift in March 2025. The fund will be invested throughout fiscal year 2026 (September 1, 2025 - August 31, 2026), fulfilling the investing requirement, which means that the disbursement will be available at the beginning of Fiscal Year 2027 (September 2026).
As promised, the University is putting up funds to award the Princess Chinwendu Eke Memorial
Scholarship during this fiscal year, due to the delays you have experienced in this process. I am working with the Department of Health and Human Performance on this process and look forward to introducing you to your first scholarship recipient, once they're selected next month.
Website Recognition
I am pleased to share that the scholarships webpage on the Health and Human Performance website now features the Princess Chinwendu Eke Memorial Endowed Scholarship, along with criteria for the scholarship. Additionally, we are currently developing a dedicated giving page for the Department, which will feature this scholarship as an option for donors to support. I will share that page with you as soon as it's active.
Endowment Representation
I have noted your preferences for adding Jennifer to the list of approved representatives and stewardees for the endowment. Going forward, you will now both receive endowment reports and stewardship communications.
I spoke with Jennifer by phone recently and offered the opportunity to get together in person to establish a connection with the University. I would be glad to do that in the coming weeks, as your schedule allows. Also, on Friday, November 21st the Department of Health and Human Performance will host their annual scholarship award ceremony where the first recipient of the Princess Chinwendu Eke Memorial Endowed Scholarship will be recognized. If your schedules allow, we would be honored for you and your family to join us for that special occasion. I can share more details as the date approaches”.!
