Caption: With a heavy heart, I’m sharing that Lake Pflugerville Pediatric House Calls will be closing. This decision has not come easily, caring for your little ones and serving our community has been one of the greatest joys and honors of my life. However, as time has passed, the costs of running and maintaining the quality of care I believe in have grown too high for me to sustain.

Please know how deeply grateful I am for every family who trusted me to care for their children. The relationships built, the milestones celebrated, and the support from this community have meant more than words can express.

Though this chapter is closing, my passion for pediatric care remains strong, and I’m hopeful for what the future holds. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being part of this journey with me.

If you need help transitioning care or have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

With love and gratitude,
Brandi Torres

🌸 Spring Allergy Season is Here, Texas! 🤧
If your child has a runny nose that just won’t quit, it might not be a cold—it could be seasonal allergies.

Common signs in kids:
✅ Sneezing
✅ Itchy eyes or throat
✅ Nasal congestion
✅ Cough (especially at night)

Spring allergies in Texas are often triggered by pollen from oak, ash, and elm trees. Try keeping windows closed, changing clothes after outdoor play, and rinsing off pollen with a quick bath before bedtime! 🌿

Always reach out if symptoms are affecting sleep or school.

Vitamin A, at any dose, does not protect against measles and no parent should give to their child vitamin A in hopes of preventing measles. Vitamin A is a micronutrient, meaning very small amounts are all we need to stay healthy and we get those through a healthy diet and in recommended doses of over-the-counter multivitamin supplements. Larger doses of vitamin A given over prolonged periods are very dangerous and can lead to vomiting, blurry vision, headaches, and, when more severe, liver damage and coma.

It is recommended, that under a doctor's supervision, children infected with measles be given vitamin A once a day for two days to reduce the severity of the illness. But that is a small amount in a medical setting. The only way to prevent measles is to have your child vaccinated with the MMR vaccine.

Fevers can be scary, but they’re actually the body’s natural way of fighting infections! Knowing when to treat at home, call your doctor, or go to the ER can make all the difference.

✅ Most fevers can be managed with rest, fluids, and medication for comfort.
📞 Call your pediatrician if the fever lasts more than a few days or your child shows signs of dehydration.
🚨 Head to the ER if your child is lethargic, has difficulty breathing, or is having seizures.

Don’t hesitate to call us at (512) 673-7661.

Fever is a symptom, not an illness—treat based on how your child feels, not just the number on the thermometer. Save this post for later and share with another parent!

My kid has fever, nausea, sore throat and headache. Covid, flu and strep negative. So what’s going around? Here’s the most recent TX Department of Health report. Looks like mostly rhinovirus/enterovirus mixed with a few other common winter viruses.
