Movement is medicine

The Black Men’s Health Clinic is hosting a FREE "Movement is Medicine" group fitness class at Mt. Zion Church on September 13th. The class is led by BMHC Outreach Engagement Specialist and Healthy Lifestyles Lead, Kiounis Williams.

This fun and engaging class is designed for ALL fitness levels, and while it is geared towards adults 50+, all adult ages are welcome!

There are three time slots to choose from:
1st Class - 9 a.m.
2nd Class - 10 a.m.
3rd Class - 11 a.m.

Regular physical activity can reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and more. It can also boost your mood, improve sleep, and sharpen your memory—so come get moving with us!

Sunrise Homeless Navigation Center

📣 Introducing the NEXT BIG THING in reducing homelessness in Austin: Sunrise Hotline Video Pods! Imagine every Sunrise service for resolving homelessness from a live video case manager distributed in hotspots around the community!

Our first Hotline Pod is located downtown at Trinity Center Austin with more video and audio pods coming to hospitals and libraries across the community. No more need to go across town. Sunrise continues to lead the digital revolution in housing navigation together with our partners at City of Austin Government and we’re so excited to work with our friends at Trinity to do just that!

The storms are not over! Residents will experience the residuals of loss, grief, and mourning long after the volunteers are gone.

The PFaith House PFoot Soldiers staff & volunteers will be delivering water and hygiene to areas affected by floods with our church family.

We are accepting supply donations and financial donations to purchase as needed. While we are delivering supplies, our main focus is to walk and pray. For your privacy and security inbox interest and we will connect directly to avoid the crisis scams. Your gifts will be given directly to those in need.

Having a safe and stable place to live is one of the most basic human needs, yet too many in our community go without it or struggle to keep it.

If you are in the Elgin area, the Elgin Housing Authority provides individuals with affordable housing options and rental assistance for qualifying residents.

Elgin Housing Authority—Public Housing (https://www.elginhousing.org/): Housing Authority of Elgin provides stable, quality, affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income families throughout the local community. Through the provision of public housing apartments and the management of Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, the Housing Authority of Elgin serves more than 85 low-income families and individuals while supporting healthy communities.

The Elgin Housing Authority is a multi-family residence with a total of 28 units in 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms, located in Elgin, Texas.

If you are looking for help paying your rent, the Housing Authority of Elgin may be able to help. The Black Men's Health Clinic (BMHC) is pleased to share that our collaboration with Downtown Austin Community Court that we previously shared in 2024 is expanding expanding.

We will officially begin offering mobile court at BMHC on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025.

BMHC's healthcare services stand on three pillars: physical, mental, and social determinants of health. This mobile court opportunity falls under our social determinants of health pillar. Social determinants of health, such as transportation, shelter, food, and other daily needs, are being addressed through BMHC's Care Network. Resolving court issues can help with peace of mind, safety, and health.

At BMHC, we know that sometimes, "Life—Be Life'n." But we are here to help.
