Good morning everyone!
I wanted to introduce myself for all of our new followers (we just hit 500!!) & share why i love what I do.
My name is Catherine Parker, I have had Cleaning & Concierge by Catherine for 5 years come this August & it has been nothing short of amazing. I’ve met so many awesome people & have impacted so many lives just through cleaning.
As a cleaner you meet so many people & while my job is cleaning, it goes a bit deeper than that- when trust blooms over folded laundry or polished floors.
When most people think of a cleaner, they picture someone scrubbing floors, dusting shelves, or making a space sparkle. But ask anyone who’s done the work—really done it—and they’ll tell you: cleaning is only part of the job.
Being a cleaner often means stepping into people’s lives at their most unguarded. For many clients, their cleaner becomes a silent anchor in the chaos of everyday life. Someone who notices what’s out of place—emotionally as well as physically. A cleaner might walk into a home and sense the weight of a bad week in the clutter, the grief in the unopened mail, or the isolation in the stillness. And in simply being present—without judgment—they become more than a service provider.
Conversations begin as small talk but can open into confessions, dreams, or even cries for help. Ive held a wife mourning the loss of her husband, offered console to a mother pcsing to a state shes never been, listened to stories no one else has heard, & reminded someone of their worth when they’d forgotten it. Cleaners offer continuity. Kindness. A safe rhythm in a life that might otherwise feel unsteady.
Clients may start by hiring you for your skills, but over time, they come to trust you with more than their homes. You become the person who listens. Who remembers their dog's name. Who knows when to speak and when to simply be there. In a world that moves fast and often leaves people feeling invisible, cleaners have a rare gift: the ability to witness someone's life without judgment.
We hear the stories that don’t get posted. We offer small comforts—a conversation, a smile, the gift of noticing. Sometimes, we’re the only person someone speaks to that day. And sometimes, that conversation makes all the difference.
To clean is to care. To show up when others don’t have the energy. To protect someone’s peace by restoring order, even when the rest of the world feels chaotic.
So no, it’s not just cleaning. It’s holding space. It’s building trust. It’s being a quiet lifeline in someone’s routine.
And that? That’s powerful.
& its exactly why i do what i do!
