Bonnie’s life changed when a sudden fall led to a severe stroke and emergency surgery to remove a blood clot. Active and outdoorsy by nature, she faced overwhelming challenges. She arrived at our hospital in Shiloh, Illinois needing significant help with walking and daily tasks.

Bonnie’s determination paired with the support of her therapy team led to incredible progress. She went from using a walker to walking the halls independently. Her therapists helped her regain her strength, confidence and independence.

On her last day with us, Bonnie proudly walked out of our hospital on her own, ready for outpatient therapy and her next adventure. “They keep you motivated and moving,” she said. “I probably wouldn’t have made the progress I have if I had gone elsewhere.”

Kenneth Bradley was admitted to our hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia, after a life-threatening battle with Guillain-Barré syndrome left him immobile and made swallowing and eating difficult. His goals were simple yet profound: to walk again and enjoy a hamburger before discharge.

Through hard work and determination, Kenneth made remarkable progress. He regained strength, learned to walk, navigated stairs and returned to his self-care routine. He even passed his swallow study and celebrated with that long-awaited hamburger!

Kenneth’s journey didn’t stop there — he proudly flexed in the mirror with his restored arm strength and left the hospital walking independently, just in time for the holidays!
