We are on one of our star residents, Joe!
Joe was born in Philadelphia, and at six months old, moved with his family to Washington, DC. They lived on 34th St. near the Washington Cathedral where he became a choirboy. He participated with the Choral Society in several performances of major choral works such as Britten’s War Requiem, and Mahler’s 8th Symphony. Joe attended Washington College, where he studied Music and English.
Alongside his academic pursuits, he developed a strong interest in cooking and earned a certificate in culinary arts from the Culinary Institute of America. After college, Joe spent 42 years teaching music, history, and English in Delaware and Maryland, retiring in 2020.
Joe met his now-husband, Dan, who was living in New York City, and they eventually settled at Fountain View in 2022. During his time at Fountain View, Joe facilitates the music talks for the upcoming opera/orchestras, holds a seat on resident council, and co-facilitates the short story discussion.
