WHY DREAM WORK?

Early psychoanalysts like Freud and Jung recognized the potential of dreams to illuminate conscious and preconscious conflicts. Dreams are a potential untapped source of insight: they can show us things about us we might not otherwise know. Working with dreams can build our intuition—connecting gut feeling with a felt sense of consensus reality.

YOUR DREAMING BRAIN

Dream work helps people bypass internal editing processes and normal defenses to reach emotional and preconscious material at a deeper level of the psyche. The neuroscience behind this is that during sleep, our prefrontal cortices, which are responsible for rational thought and executive functioning, shut down for the night.

WHY DREAM WORK IN A GROUP?

Group members enter into the dream along with the dreamer, allowing for a kaleidoscopic, multi-faceted experience. Sharing dreams with a group has the potential to tap into the collective unconscious, allowing participants to engage the dreamer through questions and associations, often discovering insights into their own lives. Dream sharing is a social experience as well as a personal journey, with the possibility of developing empathetic connections with the group.

(Note: All are welcome. This is not a psychotherapy group. We will not engage in group process work around interpersonal difficulties and trauma. The Dream Group’s intention is collaborative, creative, and playful, whereby participants will engage in a circular dynamic, sharing, and interpreting from their personal perspective.)

Currently accepting new clients. Specializing in mindfulness-based somatic psychotherapy and ecotherapy, I believe your story is unique. I want you to experience the freedom of meeting life on life’s terms, with a sense of purpose and meaning. Life is too short to stay stuck in bad relationships, let trauma take the wheel, or consistently feel anxious and stressed. Somatic psychotherapy is a whole-person approach. We experience the world through our bodies/senses, so it makes sense we incorporate this in our work. Trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, relationships, attachment issues, and mindfulness are my specialities.

I work with a diverse range of clients, and particularly LGBTQ+ and QTBIPOC clients, through a mindfulness-based whole-person, anti-racist and decolonized perspective, healing emotional and body experiences, including all sizes, genders, sexualities, and relationship orientations, including kink, poly, and ethical non-monogamy.

WHAT IS GROUP THERAPY

GROUP THERAPY IS AN EVIDENCE-BASED INTERVENTION THAT CAN HELP PEOPLE SEE THEIR BEHAVIORS AND PATTERNS FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE; PRACTICE IDENTIFYING AND COMMUNICATING NEEDS; FEEL MORE CONFIDENT IN CONNECTING WITH OTHERS; AND ULTIMATELY LEAD TO A RICHER AND MORE MEANINGFUL LIFE FILLED WITH LOVE, JOY, AND LAUGHTER. GROUP THERAPY IS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS EXPENSIVE THAN INDIVIDUAL THERAPY AND OFFERS PARTICIPANTS A CHANCE TO BE A PART OF A SAFE AND CONFIDENTIAL COMMUNITY IN WHICH THEY CAN DEVELOP THE SKILLS NEEDED TO CREATE A HEALTHY AND LASTING SUPPORT SYSTEM. Q***R & THRIVING MEETS VIRTUALLY FOR 90 MINUTES, ONE NIGHT A WEEK, FOR EIGHT WEEKS. SESSIONS ARE SCHEDULED ON MONDAY EVENINGS FROM 8:00-9:30PM. GROUP MEMBERS ARE PRE-SCREENED, AND IT IS A "CLOSED GROUP," MEANING WE WILL START AND FINISH WITH THE SAME MEMBERS; NEW MEMBERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO JOIN MID-GROUP. IT IS THEREFORE AN EIGHT-WEEK COMMITMENT. BE ASSURED THAT THE GROUP WILL BE A WARM, ACCEPTING ENVIRONMENT WHERE PARTICIPANTS FEEL SAFE AND COMFORTABLE. FEES ARE $65 A SESSION, FOR A TOTAL OF $520.
