Please note we work on a fee-for-service basis which means we do not accept payment through any insurance plans. You can check with your insurance plan (usually the website gives this information) about "out of network providers." Our therapists can provide receipts that you can use to seek reimbursement with your insurance company if your plan allows for out of network providers. Otherwise, we w

ork on a sliding scale and each of our therapists negotiates fees with her/his clients individually. We believe that speaking openly about fees is part of a good therapy process and helps build a trusting relationship.

Have you experienced one of these poor people? As a therapist, I needed to do some study. I plan to present on sociopathy in the fall.

“By returning to inner silence, solitude, and stillness in these few minutes a day, your amygdala will be smaller. We know now you will be much less reactive and forgetful. We know you will have a larger insula, more gray matter, and overall much smoother connections to your very human pre-frontal cortex. You will have greater awareness and insight and focus and even compassion.” -- Carolyn Oates

It is in the pause, even brief turns, that our brains change and our feelings find meaning and our outlok expands. Jesus leads by example.

I've witnessed so much anger this week. We might want to ponder that.

Some of us are angry because God won't deal with our anger. We've got to grasp it before we can let it go. Jesus will be with us all the way.

Dr. Rod White collects some popular research findings about the impact of siblings on our adult feelings and patterns.

Research on how siblings impact our development and well-being is no longer scarce. But your awareness might not have kept up with all the good thinking.

Dr. Gwen offers some help for when can't stop correcting ourselves and others.

I often hear myself say to my clients something like, “Let’s try to set aside correcting your thoughts and your feelings and focus on noticing them fully so we can explore them together and see where that leads us.” So often, as I am getting to know someone, I find that we get sidetracked by [...
