We're pleased to share that our Chair of Surgery is serving as the Vice President of the American Surgical Association (ASA) 👏

The prestigious American Surgical Association has named Dr. Charles J. Yeo, the Samuel D. Gross Professor at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, its 2025-2026 vice president. A decorated Jefferson Health physician, Dr. Yeo has authored more than 680 peer-reviewed publications and performed over 1,900 Whipple procedures.

His election reflects both his individual excellence and Jefferson’s continuing legacy of leadership in surgery, dating to ASA founder Dr. Samuel D. Gross and past-president Dr. John H. Gibbon Jr. Congrats, Dr. Yeo, on this well-deserved honor!

Earlier this month we were honored to host our 19th Annual & Related Diseases Patient Symposium. Over 300 attendees joined us for the event, which included patient-survivors (pictured here), families and caregivers, community groups, vendors, faculty, and staff.

Dr. Kristin Brill, breast surgeon and director of Breast Oncology at Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Jefferson Health, explains why women with dense breasts may need additional screenings beyond mammograms, such as 3D mammography, ultrasound, or MRI, to improve cancer detection.

Dense breast tissue heightens your risk of breast cancer and may require additional screenings to supplement your annual mammogram.
