Just a few scenes from the first six months.
Not everything—just the parts that stayed with me.
A little sun.
A little soul work.
Some walks. Some wonders.
Some saying yes to things that scared me.
Not rushing the becoming. Just grateful for the unfolding. 🌿

I’ll be sharing more soon—stories, lessons, and little shifts from this season.
But for now, this is enough. 💛

Have you heard of the Moth?

Last night, I participated in my very first Moth live storytelling event—and wow, it was magical.

To be honest, it was also my first time attending anything like this. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s essentially an open mic for storytelling, held in cities around the world, centered around a theme. You have five minutes to tell a true story from your life—and while anyone can sign up, only 10 names are pulled from a hat.

A month ago, I saw the flyer. I knew I wanted to share my story. But even the morning of the event, I debated going. I had worked the night before, I was tired. But something told me—go. I went for a run, cleared my head, and bought the ticket.

The theme? Bloom.

The doors opened. I signed up. About 100 people ushered into the room. They gave the rules. The event began and then…

“Coming to the stage… Amy Felix.”

Wait—what?! They picked me. My heart jumped. I walked up, lights in my eyes, and began:

“I quit my job.”
Applause.
“I quit my job.” More cheers.
And from there, I shared how in life we have more than 1 bloom season..

Afterwards, people came up to me—touched by my story, curious about my business, and yes, even complimenting my outfit.

The thing about making radical change in your life, it becomes infectious through all aspects of life.

As I imagine my future self on big stages, sharing my story, I’m excited about how I can help others live their wildest dreams, and organizations support the well-being of their employees.

But as for last night, I was just happy to share my story about my Bloom 🥰

Btw- There are judges who score your story immediately after. I’m proud of my score even as a first timer. 🙂

I’m thrilled to be recognized as one of ‘s 2025 Caribbean Boss Ladies in honor of !

It’s truly amazing to be a woman of Caribbean descent making waves, breaking barriers, and creating impact across industries. This recognition is a testament to the incredible talent within our diaspora, and I’m grateful to be among such phenomenal women!

A huge thank you to CBN for this recognition and congratulations to all the other Boss Lady Honorees! Let’s continue to uplift, inspire, and support each other.

Yes, this is me smiling ….

on a Sunday evening while working my second shift of the weekend….Post vacation 🤗

I just came back from a 10 day vacation, fun in the sun with family and friends. And usually, I would dread the return to real life. But this time I didn’t!😳

I was happy to come back home rejuvenated, with 2 days off to settle back into real life. I returned to work full of energy and ready to see patients on Saturday as well as excited for my entrepreneurial work that lies ahead over the next few months.

While I was gleefully walking from to my patients rooms on Saturday, I had to ask myself ,

“Why am I ok being at work after great vacation?”🤔

Then it hit me! Four years ago, when I took my leap of faith and took a sabbatical, I vowed to create a life that I didn’t need to escape. And I REALLY DID IT!

Lifestyle design is a real thing, and I know this because I am living it. I am still an entrepreneur, a nurse practitioner, daughter, sister, friend… all of the things. However, I move in these spaces in a way that fulfills me and doesn’t drain me.

This Monday, think about what’s filling your cup more or what feels easy to your soul, and do more of that!😁

Happy Monday☀️

Do you take a recovery day between vacation and returning to work? I think this is a game changer for me!

24 hours in NYC🗽

It was fabulous. I ate, had a drink that was literally on🔥, laughed with my bestie, and made memories with new people.🤗

I returned to work last night, rejuvenated from my weekend adventures. But, I didn’t always feel like that.
In my previous role, working varying shifts, weekends and holidays felt exhausting even after traveling or fun weekends.

I was burning out because:
🚫I had no control over my schedule.
🚫I had no control over my personal time.
🚫My job dictated my life.

More importantly, the job did not fit the lifestyle I desired anymore‼️

My career break changed everything! My life dictates how I work, for example:
✅ I work no more than 2 consecutive days
✅ I schedule the same day off every weekly
✅ I don’t go in early or pick up extra shifts

The best part is that I enjoy going into work. Each day, I show up fully recharged and ready to provide the best care to patients. Why? Because I setup my schedule to support how I WORK BEST and how I WANT TO LIVE!🤗

Are you a Nurse or Practitioner looking to transform the way you work? Want to work differently or take a break from working to reinvigorate your passion for your work?

Guess what?!

I got a tea infuser pot for Christmas.🤗🤗🤗

If you know me, I absolutely love tea! All kinds of tea, black tea, green tea, herbal teas.

For the past week, I have been brewing teas and making amazing tea lattes. It’s one of my simple pleasures in the morning.☺️

Any tea lovers out there? If so, what are your favorite teas?

My why….

I created the idea of the Nurse Sabbatical because I wanted to document my journey of taking a break from nursing.

During that time, people would ask me how I did it, how could they do it, and am I still on it.

And while it really was only about 9 months, the return on investment of my sabbatical has been more than I could have ever imagined.

I continue to..
✨Find myself in new spaces that I didn’t know existed
✨ Work as a NP in non traditional ways
✨Live life with ease, freedom, and flexibility

I believe everyone deserves to experience sabbaticals/career breaks/adult gap years..
especially my fellow nurses, nurse practitioners, and nurse leaders. 👩🏽‍⚕️

So as I open new 🚪 and close others in 2024, I remain grounded in my why of making sabbaticals accessible to nurses.

Here’s to embracing our purpose and actively chasing our dreams throughout 2024!

Happy Monday!☀️
