Have you heard of the Moth?
Last night, I participated in my very first Moth live storytelling event—and wow, it was magical.
To be honest, it was also my first time attending anything like this. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s essentially an open mic for storytelling, held in cities around the world, centered around a theme. You have five minutes to tell a true story from your life—and while anyone can sign up, only 10 names are pulled from a hat.
A month ago, I saw the flyer. I knew I wanted to share my story. But even the morning of the event, I debated going. I had worked the night before, I was tired. But something told me—go. I went for a run, cleared my head, and bought the ticket.
The theme? Bloom.
The doors opened. I signed up. About 100 people ushered into the room. They gave the rules. The event began and then…
“Coming to the stage… Amy Felix.”
Wait—what?! They picked me. My heart jumped. I walked up, lights in my eyes, and began:
“I quit my job.”
Applause.
“I quit my job.” More cheers.
And from there, I shared how in life we have more than 1 bloom season..
Afterwards, people came up to me—touched by my story, curious about my business, and yes, even complimenting my outfit.
The thing about making radical change in your life, it becomes infectious through all aspects of life.
As I imagine my future self on big stages, sharing my story, I’m excited about how I can help others live their wildest dreams, and organizations support the well-being of their employees.
But as for last night, I was just happy to share my story about my Bloom 🥰
Btw- There are judges who score your story immediately after. I’m proud of my score even as a first timer. 🙂
