Position Title: Program Assistant/Aide
Supervised by: Center Director and/or Activities Director
FLSA Job Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary
Provision of personal care and assistance to clients; clean the center and the bathrooms.
Essential Job Functions:
- Compliance with PA Code Title 6. Chapter 11. Older Adult Daily Living Centers and appropriate accreditation standards.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living and personal care as needed (e.g. arrival and departure, eating, ambulation, transferring, therapies, rest room assistance, serve meals and snacks and clear tables; assist with feeding as needed etc.).
- Assist in the planning and facilitation of creative and diverse therapeutic recreational programs and interact with clients.
- Observe clients for change in condition or unusual occurrences. Escalate concerns as appropriate.
- Maintain program areas, supplies, and equipment ensuring all are clean, disinfected, stocked, replenished and in good working order.
- Participate in staff meetings and in-service educational programs as requested.
- Clean bathrooms as needed: clean toilet seats, wipe the faucets and mop the floors.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- Have at least one-year equivalent experience in a health care setting
- Prior experience working seniors and/or adults with special needs
- Strong communication and engaging interpersonal skills
- Able to bend, pull, push, squat, turn, transfer, and lift 50 pounds; able to stand for an extended period while providing physical and personal care assistance to clients
- Successful results of background check, and where applicable, additional state-specific regulatory requirements.
