Couldn't close out July without celebrating my 4 years' time as a yoga teacher. 🎉
It's flown by, but I also can't believe it's only been 4 years.. so much has changed..

4 years ago, I was a full-time corporate office employee.
1 month after that first YTT, I put in my 2 weeks notice at my office job.
Unsure where I would end up, but unhappy with my current situation, I set out on my own. Knowing I just wanted to make more room for wellness & balance in my life..
Of course now I've been full-time in this world for close to 3 years. I get to do what I love for a living & continue to dive deeper.
I completed not only that base 200HR YTT, but my 800HR yoga therapist training, holistic coaching training, trauma Informed training, yoga for recovery training, & children's YTT.
I've worked in studios, schools, offices, retreat spaces, rooftops, people's homes, virtually. I've coached yogis in preschool & yogis in their 80s. I make my own schedule & never take jobs I'm not interested in. I've started a private practice & continue to expand.

This is your reminder that *YOU* can make a change like this at any point. You can pivot, switch directions, reroute, turn back, or start completely over at any time.
You are never stuck.
YOU are truly the writer of 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 own story.
It's just up to you to make that decision..

𝘕𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺?
Good news is my trainings & personal experiences have me prepared to stand by you as you make similar life transitions & up-levels. Message at any time.

Anyway, this wasn't meant to be a plug..

It's been a damn good 4 years.
(even through the personal ups & downs)
Cheers, friends 🤍🫶☀️
Make a change if you want 💫

I like to subscribe to "daily-ish."
As described by one of my favs, , if you can make 5 out of 7 or 7 out of 10 days, you're in a good place.
Because what it's really about is consistency. Coming back after the day you missed or dropped off & continuing the journey.

Another sign in the studio read, "if you fall out of a pose, you're human. If you get back in, you're a yogi."
I like to remind my classes that's the important part. Getting back up again.
So much of what we do on the mat is a symbol for our lives off of the mat.
& if we can remind ourselves, just once a practice, to get back up again, maybe,
just maybe,
We are more likely to do it off of the mat as well.
Because no life is perfect. It's messy. It can be hard, complicated. But when we get back up again, we make the most out of the time we do have.

After 8 years of being away from *𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭* school, heading back for my masters has been an interesting feat..
&& although over the past four years I've been in trainings of all sorts, I wasn't used to the multiple choice tests, weekly quizzes, & long papers this came with..
&& honestly, as a business major undergrad, I never really had to write papers like these... so today,
after 3 semesters, 15-ish papers of significant length, a dozen shorter ones, 10 midterms/finals, weekly quizzes, readings, discussion boards, lectures, & class discussions,
All while trying to work & keep up with a social life,
I celebrate being done with the first year of my masters program...
Now time for the first "𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬" I've had in a while. ✌️🏖☀️
T minus 3 days til I'm in Bali. 🇮🇩

&& a final picture of my books from some of my other trainings, because I'll never forget my roots.
For me, its all yoga. 🤷‍♀️

Unsure about you, but my Summer Solstice start to summer arrived with a 3 day power outage, dark nights that balanced the long days, running into people I hadnt seen in years, & sychronicities that were pretty wild.
Some days, we like to think we're in control. That we know what is going to happen. We know how the day ahead will look, or have some illusion that we're in control.
& to a degree, I think that's true..

But on other days, I'm more and more convinced we're just along for the ride. We can't predict what is going to happen & we can't control every outcome. & just when we think we have something completely figured out, life throws us a curveball just to remind us we never really know.

Some of yoga philosophy has helped me release the grip a little, step back, & watch things unfold. & I think that's growth. Embracing the curveball. Trusting the redirection.
Maybe we weren't meant to get to that meeting or go to that event bc something different is in the works.

I don't know if that's true... & I'm unsure if any of us will ever really know, but at least it gives a little more piece of mind, when there is an unknown. Less attachment. Less aversion. Less ego. Less ignorance. Less fear. (yoga kleshas for you)

Anyway, when I started this post, I wasn't quite sure where I was going with it either, & I think it ended up quite interesting.
Some things don't make sense until you're looking back.

It can be easy to stall when you don't know where to start. So on the eve of May 31st, the final evening of the final day of , I'll try to at least start.

I'd be remiss if I did not post about this month, because yoga in at large has been the number one thing that has helped with my mental health journey & still continues to be day after day. Highs & lows. (when I say yoga, I mean all of poses, breathwork, mindfulness, meditation, lifestyle ethics, etc.)

So in short, thank you yoga, for getting me moving on the days I didn't want to get out of bed,
Thank you for helping me breathe when I felt like I couldn't,
Thank you for helping me respond not react (more than I did in the past),
Thanks for helping me stay present in the moments it was hardest,
Thanks for helping me stay open when I wanted to close off,
Thanks for helping me reflect though self-inquiry in the lens of yogic philosophy & psychology,
& perhaps most of all, thanks for helping me love myself & offer compassion, in the moments when the negative self-talk got too loud.

Ever since I started teaching yoga, I've wanted to teach a yoga flow to some angsty punk rock music, & Friday, June 27th is the day, 7:30PM. Think 2000s punk pop/rock. There will be Blink-182. There will be Avril Lavigne. There will be All Time Low. If I'm feelin extra spicy, maybe I'll throw in some A Day To Remember or Rise Against.
Because this is who I flow for. The carthsis of my inner emo.
So if you're like me, & you still have your emo angsty pre-teen/ teen self inside of you, come move it out, breath it out, maybe even sing along. We'll see what happens.
