2025 Tax Brackets You Should Know! 💙
💬 Most home care workers in Pennsylvania fall into the 12% or 22% range, and some into the 24% federal tax bracket - plus the flat 3.07% PA state tax. That means you’re not taxed at one flat rate—you’re taxed in steps, so only the income in each range is taxed at that rate.
Here’s a quick look at the 2025 federal tax brackets for most working caregivers. These apply to your taxable income—that’s your income after deductions like the standard deduction:
📌 Single Filers
10% on income after the standard deduction up to $11,925
12%: $11,925 – $48,475
22%: $48,475 – $103,350
24%: $103,350 – $197,300
📌 Married Filing Jointly
10% on income after standard deduction up to $23,850
12%: $23,850 – $96,950
22%: $96,950 – $206,700
24%: $206,700 – $394,600
✅ What to keep in mind:
• The standard deduction is going up to $15,750 for single and $31,500 for married couples—this reduces your taxable income
💥 No federal tax on the first $12,500 of overtime pay!
If you make less than $150,000 a year, your first $12,500 of overtime pay in 2025 is 100% federal tax-free! 🙌 That means more of your hard-earned money stays with YOU.
• You can still get credits like the Child Tax Credit if you qualify
• If you earn extra from overtime or a second job, it could bump you into the next bracket—plan ahead so you’re not caught off guard at tax time!
Double-check your W-4 to make sure enough is being withheld
✅ Why it matters:
Knowing your tax bracket helps you plan ahead—whether you’re adjusting your paycheck withholding or budgeting for next spring.
Overtime just got more rewarding 💵

🎉 Great News for Caregivers and Families! 🇺🇸

On Friday, July 4, President Trump signed a "Big Beautiful Bill" into law — and it brings meaningful financial relief to many hardworking Americans, including caregivers and seniors. Here are key highlights:

💰 Overtime Tax Relief
• Workers earning under $150,000/year can deduct up to $12,500 of overtime pay from federal income taxes ($25,000 for joint filers with annual earnings up to $300,000).
• This relief applies through 2028 and phases out for higher incomes.
Note: This is a deduction, not a full exemption from tax. The deduction will be claimed when you file your 2025 federal income tax return in early 2026.

📈Standard Deduction Boost
• The standard deduction will be to $15,750 for single filers and $31,500 for joint filers for 2025 tax year
• These amounts will be adjusted for inflation after 2025.

👶 Child Tax Credit
• Increased permanently from $2,000 to $2,200 per child.

🏡 State & Local Tax (SALT) Deduction
• Deduction cap raised from $10,000 to $40,000 for married couples earning up to $500,000/year, available through 2029.
• Note: You must itemize to claim this deduction — it's not available if you take the standard deduction.

👵 Senior Tax Additional Deduction
• Seniors aged 65 and older can claim an additional deduction of up to $6,000 per person ($12,000 for couples).
• This is in addition to the current senior deduction of $2,000 for single filers and $3,200 for married filers.
• Available from 2025 through 2028 for those with income under $75,000 (single) or $150,000 (joint filers).

Always check with a tax professional to see how these changes apply to your unique situation. At Golden Age Home Care, we’re always watching for changes that can benefit the caregivers and families we proudly serve. This bill is a win for those who give so much — and now, get a little more back. 💙

💰 Boost Your Savings with the Retirement Saver's Credit! 💰
At Golden Age Home Care, we’re committed to your financial wellness! Did you know you might be eligible for a tax credit just for saving in our 401(k) plan? It’s called the Retirement Saver's Credit, and it can help you save more for your future. Here’s what you need to know:
🌟 What’s the Saver's Credit? It’s a tax credit for contributing to your 401(k), IRA or Roth IRA, or similar retirement plan. It can lower your tax bill by up to $1,000 (or $2,000 if filing jointly)!
📋 Who Qualifies?
You’re 18+ and not a full-time student or dependent.
For 2025, if your income is below:
$47,500 (married filing jointly)
$35,625 (head of household)
$23,750 (single or other)
…you could get up to $1,000 ($2,000 for couples) off your taxes—just for saving toward retirement!
You contribute to our 401(k) plan by December 31, 2025. For IRAs, you have until the tax filing deadline (April 15, 2026, for the 2025 tax year) to contribute and claim the credit.
💡 How It Works: Contribute to your 401(k) and claim a credit of 10%-50% of your contribution (up to $2,000 for singles, $4,000 for joint filers).
The credit is nonrefundable, meaning it reduces your tax liability but won't result in a refund beyond what you owe.
📅 Claim It When Filing: Use IRS Form 8880 with your 2025 taxes to get this credit. It’s a great way to make your retirement savings go further.
We’re proud to offer a 401(k) plan to help our caregivers and staff build a secure future. If you're eligible for the Saver’s Credit, that’s even more reason to start (or keep) contributing!
Talk to your tax preparer or HR for more info—and keep saving smart.
