Experts say the "One Big Beautiful Bill" could deepen the housing divide, boosting investors and high-income buyers while leaving low-income renters and first-time buyers behind. Cuts to key energy and housing programs may worsen affordability and stall new construction in the communities that need it most. Read more from Newsweek:

The bill is likely to benefit high-end buyers and real estate professionals while lower-income Americans continue to struggle.

When we asked Kevin, a Pathways participant, to tell us about himself, he said, “I’m a father, a grandfather, a brother, and a good friend. I’m kind, caring, respectful, and loyal.” Kevin also shared how much he values the support from his team. He stops by often just to check in and recently helped us paint our mural. To support participants like Kevin, consider making a recurring donation. Monthly gifts give us steady, reliable support so participants can stay housed, access care, and build their community.

We’re in the process of painting a new mural that will soon be displayed in our office. Over the past two weeks, participants and staff have joined in during painting days to help bring the design to life. We want to give a massive thank you to Bex McIntyre ( on Instagram) for leading the project, incorporating feedback from our community, and involving us in the creative process. Stay tuned for the finished piece, after one last paint day and a few final touches!

Randi's story is a reminder that recovery takes time, support, and a whole lot of strength. After years of instability, she's now back with her son and building a life that works for her. We're proud to have been part of her journey through housing, health care, and consistent support. We also want to shout out Amanda, one of our Health Service Navigators, who Randi has credited for being there every step of the way. Thank you to The Pew Charitable Trusts for highlighting Randi's story and supporting the work that makes recovery possible.

Today is Juneteenth, marking the end of slavery in Texas on June 19, 1865, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation abolished slavery nationwide. Although it's long been celebrated in the African American community, this holiday remains unknown to many Americans and wasn't federally recognized until 2021.

While celebrating today (and possibly enjoying the day off), let's continue to work for equity in our communities. We see growing inequalities in housing, healthcare, access to gainful employment, and so much more. Take some time to learn about Juneteenth today, support Black- and minority-owned businesses, and support organizations promoting equity in your community. Last month, a group of staff and participants visited Citizens Bank Park to watch the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Cardinals. We had a great day at the ballpark, despite the misty weather! Big thanks to our Community Inclusion team for making it happen. They help organize opportunities like this so participants can enjoy meaningful experiences, from fun outings to advocacy and more.

Can Philadelphia do more to support people living with addiction? The The Pew Charitable Trusts spoke with leaders from Pathways to Housing PA, Project HOME, and Thomas Jefferson University, including our clinic's Dr. Lara Carson Weinstein, about what’s working, what needs to change, and how we can move forward together. The article offers a thoughtful look at building trust, removing barriers to care, and supporting long-term recovery. Read the full article:

In Philadelphia, where nearly 10,000 people have died from drug overdoses in the last eight years, the Pew Fund for Health and Human Services supports several front-line organizations that offer comprehensive care to people diagnosed with opioid use disorder.
