October is AAC Awareness Month!

To celebrate, we are fundraising to provide a communication poster to a local playground, as well as provide devices to individuals who don’t have access.

AAC helps individuals communicate and connect with the world. AAC is not always accessible through insurance, resulting in out-of-pocket costs to families.

We are turning our advocacy into action! Your support breaks down barriers and promotes inclusion for all children!

Thank you to all that are able to give! We appreciate this community more than you know!

It’s been a little while since we have come on here to say hello and A LOT has changed!

Since starting Small Talk in June 2022, we have added 3 babies (and one on the way), shifted from solely playgroups to private practice, had an owner move to a different state, opened a clinic room, and found ways to make our small business more accessible! Along the way, we continued to learn and evolve our practice into something we are really really proud of!!

Thank you to everyone who has played a part in our journey!! Especially the families that have trusted us in supporting their little ones. We are forever grateful!

💛 Allison, Bridget, & Sylwia

(The Small Talk babies have had enough of our antics at this point in the photo shoot)

Back to school is almost here! Use our “Classroom AAC Inclusivity” resource as a way to educate your child’s class on their communication system! Many times when I am in a classroom, peers are often told not to touch a students talker without an explanation of how it supports another learner. This resource will empower caregivers to teach their children about the many different ways that individuals communicate by explaining what AAC is and providing affirming resources to learn more.

An optional fourth page is included where the AAC user can disclose what they prefer their AAC device be called, list any specific items they would like their class to know about their AAC, and a consent form to include classmates pictures on the device.

Sign up to receive our newsletter at the link in our bio! This resource will be included this week for free!
