PennVet Diagnostic Laboratories includes four sections that work collaboratively to provide the highest quality veterinary medicine for our clients and their patients. Our clinical laboratory provides routine to advanced testing in a wide variety of disciplines including: hematology, clinical chemistry, endocrinology, urinalysis, coagulation, and immunohematology. The cytopathology service, with i
ts team of onsite board-certified pathologists, is also available for collaborative case work and veterinary consultations. Our clinical Microbiology Laboratory performs aerobic, anaerobic, fungal, and mycobacterial cultures, along with appropriate antibiotic susceptibility testing for patients of both the Ryan Veterinary Hospital and practices across the US. Our clinical microbiologist is onsite and available for consultations daily. The laboratory has a specific expertise and extensive experience with dermatologic infectious disease and work closely with our dermatopathology and cytology services. Our Parasitology Laboratory provides diagnostic services for both large and small animal patients and the Pennsylvania Animal Diagnostic Laboratories (PADLS). F***l examinations, parasite identifications, quantitative f***l egg counts and serologic testing of vector-borne infections are just a few on the services we are able to provide to submitting veterinarians. The Biopsy and Autopsy Services have provided sample interpretation for veterinarians across the nation and abroad for more than 35 years. The high volume of service exemplifies the pursuit of academic excellence and quality diagnostics. The Biopsy Services include the general biopsy service and specialty biopsy services, which include dermatopathology, lymphoma subtyping, neuropathology, ophthalmic pathology, osteopathology, and oral pathology. The Autopsy Service provides complete gross and histopathologic examinations on patients by referral from veterinarians. Please refer to the guidelines for submission of referral autopsies. Postmortem examinations can also be performed by veterinarians and tissues may be submitted through our Biopsy Service.
