Residents and families at Glen Meadows, Glen Arm, MD, enjoyed a Night at the Ballet with the Ballet Mobile last week. The Great Room was transformed into a Dance Hall as Ballerina Susan floated across the floor.

Everyone was gifted handmade floral bouquets and shared in the beauty of the music, memories and the art.

27,000 Good Bears and Counting! 🧸

Pine Run Village, Doylestown, PA, celebrated a beary special milestone: the completion of the 27,000th hand-crafted Good Bear!

Since 1989, the dedicated Good Bears Committee has been lovingly sewing bears for children in local hospital emergency rooms. What started with 8 volunteers has grown into a devoted team of stitchers — some meeting weekly, others sewing from home — all united in spreading comfort and care.

These bears have found homes at Doylestown Hospital, Grandview, Lansdale, The Cancer Institute, and our own Health Center at Pine Run. Each one wears a Pine Run tag and is made with heart. ❤️

To mark the occasion, a commemorative bear wearing a “27,000” tag now joins our showcase collection — a tribute to this heartwarming legacy.

The ‘Cathedral Village Resident Grounds Committee’ Presents: The Wild Flower Experiment

The Hypothesis: If a low-light, hardy seed was planted in a shady, sloped area of campus, it may: 1) Reduce ground erosion caused by rainwater runoff, 2) Reduce required landscaping maintenance, and 3) Create a more appealing view for the residents who overlook those areas.

The Experiment:
1) The Resident Grounds Committee selected a sloped, wooded area where grass was struggling to grow.
2) Residents garden-raked the area to remove any remaining grass patches and mix a small amount of sand into the soil.
3) Seeds were then scattered across the prepared ground and stomped into the earth.

The Conclusion: A maintenance-free, garden under the trees!

Next year, the Grounds Committee hopes to expand the experiment area and the types of seeds used in an effort to further beautify the grounds and bring more life to our campus.

It's National Nonprofit Day, and PSL is proud of our 97 years as a nonprofit leader in senior living!

A number of significant differences exist between non-profit and for-profit senior living communities.

Research by senior advocacy groups found that sponsorship and ownership of a senior living community can affect its quality of care, including quantifiable differences such as hospitalization rates. In addition, non-profit communities are differentiated by their missions, commitment to serving residents and the public, types of stakeholders and other aspects.

🍽️✨ A Culinary Experience to Savor!

Residents enjoyed an unforgettable Chef’s Table event featuring a menu as vibrant and flavorful as the community itself.

From the Roasted Peach & Beet Salad to the Grilled Tofu with Heirloom Carrots and Pistachio Pesto, each dish was a celebration of seasonal ingredients and chef-crafted creativity.

We ended the evening on a sweet note with a Free-Form Apple Tart topped with Bourbon Sabayon — the perfect finish to a truly inspired dining experience.

👨‍🍳 Good food, great company, and memorable moments — that’s what life at our community is all about.

Happy 235th Birthday to the U.S. Coast Guard!

Today, we honor the brave men and women of our nation's oldest continuous sea service. The Coast Guard was founded as the Revenue Cutter Service in 1790, and was America's only maritime defense force until the Department of the Navy was established in 1798.

A special salute to all the Coast Guard veterans at Cathedral Vlilage! Your years of selfless service, courage, and dedication to keeping our waters safe will never be forgotten. Thank you for answering the call and for the sacrifices you made to protect our nation.
