I treated this 19 year old with a combination of scalpel removal and electrodessication in a single session in the office. He has a genetic condition that causes him to make lots of warty bumps on his face and he was told throughout his teenage years that there was really nothing that could be done for them. This image, while oversimplified, illustrates an important concept. Threads, absorbable PDO barbed sutures, lift and tighten the lower third of the face and neck in a way that botulinum toxin and filler can not. Botulinum toxin shines in the upper third of the face. Fillers excel in the midface, cheeks, tear troughs, lips, smile lines, and for augmenting the jaw and chin. For excess skin, jowls, marionette lines, and for tightening the lower face and neck, however, we will be increasingly turning to threads for a tighter more natural look than is currently attainable with botulinum toxin and filler.
