Brain Awareness Week is a time to shine a light on the incredible organ that controls everything we do, from our thoughts and memories to our movement and emotions.

But it’s also a time to talk about the conditions that impact brain health, including brain aneurysms.

Brain aneurysms affect 1 in 50 people, yet many people have never heard of them until they or someone they love is impacted. When an aneurysm ruptures, it becomes a life-threatening brain bleed that requires immediate medical attention.

A brain aneurysm is a weak, bulging area in an artery in the brain. Because the walls may be thin, an aneurysm is at risk of rupturing. If it ruptures, blood can spill into the space between the skull and the brain, which is a life-threatening emergency. Learn more at bafound.org.
