Our Story

Extended Hearts Family Therapy was founded Dr. Angelle Richardson, LPC, a family therapist, who is also an adoptee and former kinship care parent. Her professional and personal experiences have given her first hand knowledge of grief, loss and attachment, and led her to establish Extended Hearts Family Therapy as a part time practice in 2013. In 2017 she was able to expand the practice to be full time.

Extended Hearts Family Therapy specializes in the areas of adoption, foster care, grief, loss and trauma. We provide therapeutic services as well as trainings and workshops for adolescents and adults in the areas of grief, loss, separation and trauma. Our goal is to assist children and families negotiate difficult emotions in order to rebuild connections and move toward a better future.

It is our philosophy that children and families need a safe space to explore their feelings in order to improve their understanding of each other and their experiences. We promote communication, healing and hope so that children and their caregivers can have productive futures, despite their past experiences.
