📣 Breaking News for Art Therapy in PA!

House Bill 1733 was introduced by Rep. Tim Briggs following a successful meeting with one of our lobbyists from Duane Morris Government Strategies, Ryan Stevens! If passed, it will establish licensure for art therapists in Pennsylvania... a major step forward in protecting both the public and our profession.⁠

Right now, anyone can call themselves an art therapist in PA, even without the proper education or clinical training. HB 1733 would ensure that only qualified professionals with the right credentials can use the title.⁠

🎨 PAATA is now accepting applications for the Ron Hays Award!

Are you a PAATA member presenting at the 2025 AATA Conference? The Ron Hays Award supports art therapists advancing the field through national peer-reviewed presentations. This annual award offers up to $600 toward conference expenses and recognizes contributions to research, education, public awareness, and professional standards in art therapy. Eligible applicants must have at least two consecutive years of PAATA membership and submit their complete application by September 8, 2025.

We know… we just changed it! But, summer weekends are busy. The FINAL (we really mean it this time) date for our June licensure meeting is Thursday, June 26th at 7pm.

If you can’t make it because of this second surprise switcheroo, no worries! We’ll send out an email with all the important bullet points so you don’t miss a thing.
