Philadelphians are taking action for clean air, climate justice, and the right to breathe. We’re defending our communities and our future against the largest fossil fuel refinery on the East Coast. We oppose Philadelphia becoming a toxic fossil fuel “energy hub” - we need a transition to an economy that serves people and planet. We envision a just transition to climate jobs, clean energy, and healthy communities.

The Philly Thrive Media Cohort has been collecting photos of Grays Ferry ancestors who have passed. We’re making a mural of remembrance this summer in the neighborhood. Is there someone who passed who you’d like to honor? Want to see them on a mural? Dig those photos out of your closets, basements, and picture frames. Send us photos by JUNE 30. If you need physical photos scanned, let us know.
Don’t have photos? We are also taking names. Please email or text names to the information below.

🚨 Call for Support for Youth-Led Direct Action🚨
Philly Thrive’s Youth-Led  Community Letter and Art Drop to urge Council President Kenyatta Johnson to mandate that the HRP Group must require all-electric trucks on their site has been postponed from the previous date to NEXT THURSDAY, June 5th, at 4pm at City Hall ‼️

As a reminder, we are asking community members to create an art piece and/or *write a letter in support of this campaign to be dropped off at City Hall to show Council President Johnson how much the residents of this city greatly appreciate him supporting our youth in their fight for clean air in his district! (*A template for the letter-writing portion of the action, along with important facts on how this air pollution affects our community, can be found by swiping through this post)

Please join us at the City Hall Visitor Entrance on 6/5 at 4pm with your letter/art or, if you can’t make it but would like to support, please email your letter to leadershipdevelopment@phillythrive.org by 6/4 so we can include it!

We have two important events in support of our Campaign led by our wonderful high school interns that you can tap in to!

We know how much pollution diesel trucks will cause for our residents once Amazon and other warehouses move in to Grays Ferry, so we’re urging our supportive Council President, Kenyatta Johnson, to ensure these warehouses use Green trucks—this way we all win!

•Tomorrow, Thurs, May 8 from 6-7:30: We have an Art Build & Letter Writing Event so we can show council how much community support we have! Can’t make the letter writing but want to write a letter of support? Send your letter to leadershipdevelopment@phillythrive.org and stay tuned for a letter prompt to help stay on message!

•Then Thurs, May 22, at 4pm, we’re meeting at City Hall to drop off our letters and art to CP Kenyatta Johnson’s office and thank him for his support of his constituents!
