At Grifols, we collect human blood to support the development of essential testing & diagnostic tools. We compensate our donors for their time & donation.

Your donation helps advance therapeutic & diagnostic industries, improving healthcare for everyone. Whole blood collected at IBBI is used for the development and manufacturing of tests used to diagnose many different diseases.

Am I eligible to donate blood?

Most donors simply need to meet a few basic requirements:

✔ Be at least 18 years old
✔ Weigh at least 110 lbs
✔ Be in generally good health
✔ Bring a valid photo ID

The entire process usually takes about an hour, and your donation helps others.

Women’s History Month – Honoring the Women Behind the Science

March is Women’s History Month, and we’re taking a moment to recognize the women who helped shape modern blood donation and medical research.

From Dr. Janet Vaughan, who helped organize large-scale blood transfusion services during WWII, to Dr. Jessie Isabelle Price, one of the first Black women bacteriologists contributing to blood safety systems — women have played a critical role in building the infrastructure that saves lives today.

Their leadership, innovation, and resilience laid the foundation for the blood systems and biopharma advancements we rely on every day.
We’re proud to continue that legacy in our centers and in our communities.

Ever wonder how often you can donate whole blood?

Here’s a quick breakdown 👇

🩸 Whole blood donors can donate every 56 days
That’s about every 8 weeks, or up to 6 times per year.

This waiting period is important because it gives your body time to:

• Replenish red blood cells
• Restore iron levels
• Recover fully between donations

Donating regularly helps maintain a safe, healthy blood supply for patients—while keeping donors healthy, too.

💡 Pro tip: Staying hydrated, eating iron-rich foods, and following post-donation care guidelines can help you feel your best between visits.
