For over 90 years, our family's been sharing tried-and-true herbal remedies from all over the world with our community. We do it because we believe in the power of plants and the positive impact a natural lifestyle can have on a life. Over the years, we've blossomed into more than just an herbal apothecary to a shop full of food and medicinal products geared toward achieving natural wellness -- we even care for pets! Though our store may have gotten an updated look, and our staff's always seeking the best new products, we've never lost sight of what's important to us: the health of our community.

Did you know our Catfish Bitters is the renowned tonic from "Catfish" Gray "Man of the Woods," a fifth-generation folk herbalist from the mountains of West Virginia, and a friend of our generational owners pictured here decades ago? His legendary combination of herbs and roots has been used for decades as a reinvigorating change-of-season tonic to support overall cleansing and reinforce immune defenses. Perfect for this time of the year!

Guided by local Appalachian traditions, "Catfish" foraged local herbs growing wild in the countryside and from the mountains surrounding his home. In fact, many would flock to see this colorful character and to obtain his botanical blend of system-cleansing and strengthening herbs.

Our Catfish Bitters is on sale now! 🌿

Chinese Hawthorn: Nature's Herbal Heart Helper

Heart health takes center stage this month. Throughout February, we’re highlighting trusted botanicals traditionally used to support the heart and cardiovascular system. By far one of the best-known heart tonics is Hawthorn.

Why Hawthorn Has Earned Its Reputation

For centuries, herbalists have turned to Hawthorn as a premier heart tonic. The leaves, flowers, and berries have all been traditionally used to strengthen and nourish the heart and circulatory system. Hawthorn is valued for its ability to support:

Healthy cardiovascular function

Circulation and blood flow

Arterial health

Healthy blood lipid levels

Why Choose Chinese Hawthorn

There are well over 200 species of Crataegus or Hawthorn shrubs. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Crataegus pinnatifida, or Chinese Hawthorn, has a documented history of use dating back thousands of years (records trace its use as far back as the 7th millennium BCE).

Our Chinese Hawthorn leaf extract powder is standardized to provide vitexin, a naturally occurring plant compound shown to support healthy blood flow by encouraging relaxed, healthy blood vessels.

Graviola Leaf: Tropical Immune Tea

Native to warm, tropical regions, the Graviola tree is best known for its spiky green fruit - soursop or guanabana. The fruit is enjoyed fresh or as a juice throughout the Caribbean, Brazil, and other parts of South America.

Graviola leaves, though, have been used as a natural immune and wellness support, valued for their protective properties at the cellular level. Modern research is now taking a closer look at why.

Graviola leaves contain unique plant compounds known as acetogenins, which studies suggest may help support healthy cell growth and function. In addition, the leaves are rich in naturally-occurring antioxidant compounds that help neutralize free radicals and support overall cellular balance.

Why Herbalists Love Graviola Leaf

Supports healthy cell function

Provides antioxidant protection

Traditional immune support

No doubt about it, Graviola leaf is an herbal ally for those seeking to support cellular and deep immune health.
