Passed away on October 5, 2023 at the age of 85. Joe was predeceased by his mother, Eleanor Lynn and his sister, Rosemarie Lynn.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a lifelong member of Nativity BVM in the Port Richmond section of the city and a Teamster with Local 470.

He is survived by his nephew, Mark Pietrak, grand and great nieces, Gormley cousins and cousin Sister Maura Bowie RSM.

NICOLARDI, Carolyn K (Kane) age passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023. She was a graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School in 1977, received her RN at Episcopal Hospital where she worked for nearly 40 years. She received her Master’s degree from St Joe’s University. She enjoyed spending time watching the sunset at the Jersey Shore and loved traveling with her lifelong friends. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her mother Caroline Kane (Hughes). She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years Thomas M, her father Joseph Kane, her sons Thomas Nicolardi IV and Michael Nicolardi (Melissa), brothers Joseph Kane (Joanne) and Michael Kane (Jackie). Also survived by her three grandchildren Liliana, Anthony and Gianna. Her family will be receiving friends and family at Calvary Chapel Philadelphia, 13500 Philmont Ave on Friday August 11th at 10am, Memorial Service is at 11am.

Catherine “Kitty” DeCasere
Born July 1, 1936. Passed away on August 3, 2023 at Fair Acres Geriatric Center.
Kitty was the loving daughter of the late Catherine and Joseph DeCasere; and the dear sister of Florence White, Lucy Lorino, Thomas DeCasere, and Rita Bonikowski, who all predeceased her.
She is survived by her devoted nieces and nephews who will greatly miss the kindness and love she showed them throughout their lives. She will also be missed by her friends and neighbors.
Kitty had many interests. She enjoyed old movies, was an avid reader, and loved music especially Elvis. She was as fond of animals as they were of her. She enjoyed traveling when she was younger, and took many trips with her dear friend Barbara. She was always happy, especially when spending time with her family.

Georgia Elizabeth (Ferraro) Barnelli, age 70, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 20th, 2023 after a long battle with dementia. She was born on 5/31/52 in Philadelphia, PA to George and Kay (Somers) Ferraro. Georgia is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Tom, and her cherished daughter Lisa. She is also survived by her sister Cass Melini (Carlo), her nieces Karen Bergman, Lisa Shepherd (Denny), Jen Kaiser, and Kristin Kline (Jarod), and her nephews Bill Harris (Michelle) and Jeff Kaiser (Nina). She had a special place in her heart for her great-nephews Max and Jack Harris and Jack and Timmy Kaiser. Georgia also dearly loved her girlfriends from childhood...they always talked about growing up in Port Richmond and about going to Hallahan. She had many other close friends from throughout the years, and was loved by all who met her. Georgia had a beautiful smile and a kind heart. She was smart, funny, and loyal. She will be greatly missed by everyone. Georgia's memorial celebration will be held on Fri., 7/28/23 at Cassizzi's funeral home in Port Richmond from 6-8 PM, followed by a short prayer service with Fr. James Olson. DEATH NOTICE FOR
ROSE LORUSSO LANZA, 98, of Philadelphia peacefully passed away in her family’s arms on May 7, 2023.
Rose was born on March 12, 1925, the youngest of four children, to two Italians who immigrated into a loving Italian community in Port Richmond. She lived on East Somerset Street nearly her entire life. She graduated Kensington High School with honors and worked as a secretary during the war until she became a mom in the 1960s.
She was the loving mother and grandmother of Joe Lanza and wife Connie (Cuthbert) and their sons Brad and Jack. Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Francesco and Lucrezia (Grillo) Lorusso; her siblings, Mary Thieroff, Michaelina Cioci, and Dominic Lorusso; her husband Anthony Lanza; and her niece Rosemary Thieroff Hughes. She is celebrated by her many nieces and nephews and their families along with many generations of cousins here in the US and in Gravina and Bari, Italy.
Family and friends were always most important to Rosie; a quick meal always came together for any visit or a swim party in her pool. She also enjoyed many other interests with her passions for sewing, gardening, caring for animals, enjoying big band and opera music, ballroom dancing, harmonizing at her piano, playing the mandolin, and cooking.
VIEWING: Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and prayer service on Tuesday May 16th at the Cassizzi Funeral Home at 2913 E. Thompson Street, Philadelphia, from 6:30 to 8:30PM. A reception will immediately follow at the Hinge Café, 2652 E Somerset St, Philadelphia. All are welcome.
INTERMENT Relatives and friends are invited to her interment on Wednesday, May 17th at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown PA. Please arrive by 9:30 .
A luncheon will immediately follow at the Washington Crossing Inn, 1295 General Washington Memorial Blvd, Washington Crossing, PA. All are welcome.
In keeping with Rose’s care for lost animals, memorial donations in lieu of flowers will be used to care for animals in Philadelphia through the PAWS organization.
