Social media is where teens connect, express themselves, and stay in the loop—but constant exposure can also leave them overwhelmed, anxious, and caught in a cycle of comparison. Logging off gives teens space to rest their minds, protect their self-esteem, and reconnect with the real-world relationships and interests that truly nourish them. Just like sleep and nutrition, digital breaks are essential for emotional balance. Read my newsletter for tips: www.robinsabagtherapy.com

As the busy school year winds down and the pace of life shifts into summer mode, many of us welcome the promise of longer days, vacations, and sunshine. Yet for others, summer can also bring disruption, disorientation, or anxiety as routines dissolve and new rhythms emerge. Whether you’re a student, a parent, or simply someone adjusting to a seasonal change, it’s important to acknowledge that transitions—even positive ones—can be challenging for our mental health. Read my June Newsletter for tips to embrace this change:

Sleep research suggests that a teenager needs between 8 and 10 hours of sleep every night. Most teenagers only get about 6.5-7.5 hours sleep per night. Sleep deprivation can have dramatic effects on a teenager’s life, including affecting their mental wellbeing and reducing their academic performance at school. Teens are often faced with discomfort, and the tendency is to avoid. However, it is in these moments of discomfort and challenge where we truly grow. Psychologists and behavioral researchers often talk about the concept of "optimal anxiety" or "productive discomfort," where we are pushed just beyond our current capabilities. This is where the magic happens — new neural connections are forged, and our mental resilience expands. Read my newsletter for tips to help your teen embrace discomfort!

In the age of social media, helping teens trust their gut can feel like a challenge. Intuition, or “gut instinct” is one's most immediate understanding of something. It arises as a feeling within your body that only you experience. Because this feeling is so personal, no one else can weigh in to tell you if you’re in touch with your gut instinct or not. Being able to trust their gut can allow teens to prevent dangerous situations and allow them to set limits and feel confident. Read for tips to help you teens (and you as parents) to check in with your gut intuition: https://us6.campaign-archive.com/?u=d1441f793d98ccdf4e1b05ba5&id=457bf8f79c
