Born with congenital scoliosis in Central Province, Panama, Isabela has been in pain her entire life.

She could not play sports or do much physical activity at all because of her scoliosis, a sideways curvature of the spine, and kyphosis, an abnormal forward curve of the upper spine causing a “hunchback” appearance.

The Fracture Clinic will be closed in both Philadelphia and Doylestown.

Community giving back in a big way 🏌️‍♀️⛳ Thank you to our new friends at the Billy Madden Memorial Golf Trust for hosting an incredible golf tournament and raising $32,000 in support of Shriners Children’s Philadelphia.

Shannon is a student at the University of Pennsylvania studying to earn her master’s in social work, a degree inspired by her time as a patient at Shriners Children’s Philadelphia.

When Shannon was in utero, she had a stroke, causing hemiplegic cerebral palsy on her right side. However, she wasn’t diagnosed until she was 2 years old, and when she was 8, her family found Shriners Children’s Philadelphia.

Shriners Children’s Philadelphia has allowed Shannon to pursue one of her hobbies, the physically demanding activity of aerial acrobatics. This requires grip strength and various hand and leg movements. She said, “I wouldn’t be able to do this without Shriners.”

📣After decades of caring for patients, Scott H. Kozin, M.D., has received a promotion to Chief Medical Officer and will now lead the physicians and advanced practice practitioners across the Shriners Children's healthcare system. As part of this new leadership role, Dr. Kozin will be transitioning away from direct patient care in the first half of 2026.

While we’ll miss Dr. Kozin at Shriners Children’s Philadelphia, we’re grateful his leadership will benefit kids across North America and beyond. Our expert upper-extremity team—including Drs. Dan Zlotolow and Eugene Park—will continue providing the exceptional care families know and trust.

Snowboarding season is here, and Mia is heading straight for the slopes! ⛷️❄️ Check her out shredding down the mountain while wearing her custom KAFO braces, made just for her by our POPS department.

The friendships formed at last a lifetime. When patients stay on the inpatient floor together, they develop unbreakable bonds formed on the cornerstone of understanding. They comfort each other and spend quality time together.
