The Alliance for Ethical International Recruitment Practices We help ensure that the recruitment of foreign-educated Healthcare and Education professionals is ethical, responsible, and transparent.

We are a non-profit organization that promotes ethical conduct and practices among those who recruit foreign-educated professionals to the United States. The Voluntary Code of Ethical Conduct for the Recruitment of Foreign-Educated Professionals to the United States sets out standards for fair, ethical, and transparent recruitment. The Code was drafted by a diverse group of stakeholders and has been endorsed by organizations including the National Education Association, the American Nurses Association, the American Hospital Association, the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency, the Commission on Filipinos Overseas, and the National Association of Indian Nurses of America.

Private hospitals in Malaysia are considering the recruitment of foreign-educated nurses from India and the Philippines as a temporary measure to combat staffing shortages. Many hospitals have high attrition rates of nurses due to dissatisfaction and "dehumanizing" work environments.

Despite worsening shortages of nurses in the U.S., strict visa quotas keep thousands of qualified nurses from entering the country. The bipartisan Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act would recapture unused visas for nurses and doctors—an important step in helping alleviate the growing shortage.
