Here’s a recap of faculty poster presentations at this week:

⭐️ Dr. Laura Baehr presented a poster alongside faculty member, Dr. Margaret Finley, titled “Integrating Community-Based Participatory Research Approaches into Program Development and Study Design.”

⭐️ Dr. Bill Egan presented research on trait mindfulness in TKA patients entitled “Is Trait Mindfulness associated with pain interference in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty? A prospective cohort study.”

⭐️ Dr. Trish Crane also had a poster presentation about TKA titled “Only 1% of Total Knee Arthroplasty Clinical Trials Report Patient Opioid Use Before or After Surgery: A Systematic Review.”

Dr. Mike O’Hara Temple DPT faculty presented research conducted with Dr.’s Jasmine Edwards and Scott Burns entitled Sociodemographic changes in student composition following the removal of pre-quisite GRE scores, at APTA CSM. This poster was recognized by the APTA Academy of Leadership and Innovation Global Health SiG. Congratulations Mike and colleagues!

Yesterday, they attended the Otho Davis Foundation Awards Dinner where they were honored for their scholarship, service, and dedication to the physical therapy profession. Third year students in the pediatric elective had a fun visit at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) today. While there, students were able to observe two different settings including the NICU, adolescent sports, acute care, inpatient, and outpatient!

Last Saturday, Temple DPT's PT Moves Me Program had a fun time collaborating with the College of Public Health, the Bachelor of Science in Health Professions, Occupational Therapy and Recreational Therapy for the very first Healthcare Career Day for Temple University's Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Department.

Students and faculty from each discipline had the opportunity to teach highschoolers in the North Philadelphia community about their allied health profession through creative and interactive activities. The goal of this outreach event was to increase exposure of the different types of healthcare fields to local youth in the community and ensure they had adequate resources needed if they do aspire to pursue a career in healthcare.

Temple DPT is already looking forward to the next Healthcare Career Day! Stay tuned!
