We are here to stay, and it's time to celebrate that!
IN THANKS for every call or email to a council person,
every council office visit,
every council testimonial given,
video testimonial taken,
every time you wore a “No Arena” t shirt,
showed up at City Hall,
told a friend or family member about the arena,
attended a town hall or teach in,
marched in the street,
and thought about what it means to come together as a community to protect our neighbors from a billionaire land-grab:
Join us at the Save Chinatown Coalition Block party on Sunday, February 2nd from 2-5pm at 10th and Arch! Dance in the streets with us because we deserve to celebrate what we have accomplished. It wasn’t the kind of win we envisioned, but what we built is an organization of coalition groups that has space for EVERYONE to contribute meaningfully. We all learned so much, and even though this chapter of the fight might be ending, WE ARE HERE TO STAY; not just physically in our neighborhoods, but this movement is here to stay. We won’t stop fighting for our neighbors now. Stick with us for future actions and opportunities to make Philadelphia and our world a truly inclusive and safe COMMUNITY for all of us.
Come early to see the Philadelphia Suns performing the Lion Dance all over Chinatown to celebrate the Lunar New Year (just follow the sound of firecrackers) for the year of the Snake, and stay late to grab some dinner at one of Chinatown's many restaurants. Wear red for luck!
