Have you been advised to switch your Medicaid Managed Care Organization (MCO) just to continue accessing adult day care?
At Golden Age Adult Day Center, that’s not necessary.

We proudly accept all Pennsylvania Medicaid MCOs, allowing you to maintain the insurance plan that best fits your needs — without interruption to your care.

Why This Matters:

Due to recent changes, some providers are losing contracts with certain MCOs and are encouraging clients to switch plans. However, changing your MCO under pressure can lead to disruptions in your healthcare, benefits, and continuity of care.

It is not legal for a daycare or home care provider to tell you to switch insurance plans just for their convenience. For example, switching from Keystone First to PA Health & Wellness or UPMC should be based on your needs—not because someone else told you to do it.

Before making any insurance changes, think carefully. A new plan might not cover your current doctors, medications, or services. Make sure you understand how the change will affect your care.

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is back!
Eligible Philadelphia residents aged 60 and older can receive $25 in free vouchers to purchase fresh, Pennsylvania-grown fruits and vegetables at participating farmers markets.

How to Get Your Vouchers:
• In-person pickup: Visit PCA at 642 N. Broad Street, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Senior centers: Available at select senior community centers across Philadelphia.
• By mail: Starting in early August, you can request vouchers by mail. Quantities are limited—act quickly!

Key Dates:
• Voucher distribution: Now through September 30, 2025 (or while supplies last)
• Redemption deadline: Use your vouchers by November 30, 2025

🔔 Please note: Lost or stolen vouchers cannot be replaced.

This 4th of July feels different. One of our beloved Golden Age client is not here to celebrate with us this year, and our hearts are truly broken.

He was with us for 10 wonderful years — always bringing laughter, wisdom, and warmth. He was a funny, intelligent, and kind-hearted man who touched the lives of everyone around him.

He passed away just a few weeks ago, and the loss is still so deeply felt. We miss him more than words can say. I’m so sorry he’s gone, but he will forever live on in my heart.

Rest peacefully, dear friend. You are loved, remembered, and missed every day. 💔🇺🇸

Important Information About Keystone First Insurance and Your Options

We want to clarify that:

Golden Age Adult Day Center does accept Keystone First.
To be more specific, Golden Age is contracted with AmeriHealth Caritas (Keystone First), PA Health & Wellness, and UPMC Community HealthChoices. You can continue receiving services at Golden Age with any of these three plans.

Is Keystone First a Good Insurance?

Keystone First has earned a strong reputation, with a 4.0 out of 5 rating based on its performance in the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®), which measures how well health plans provide care and services. It also scored well in the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®), which reflects member satisfaction.

How to Choose the Right Plan for You

All Medicaid-managed care plans offer the same basic benefits, but some may provide extra programs or services that better match your needs. Here are some things to consider:
• Not all doctors accept all plans. If you want to stay with your current doctor or specialists, make sure they accept the insurance plan you’re choosing.
• Our counselors at Golden Age Adult Day Center can help. They can:
• Explain the differences between plans
• Check which plans your doctors accept
• Help you find a plan that supports specific health needs (like diabetes, asthma, etc.)

How to recover your stolen SNAP benefits in PA

If your benefits were stolen on or after Dec 21, 2024 you should report the theft & request a new EBT card. However, DHS will not be able to replace your stolen benefits until Congress acts to allow states to replace them. To take action, contact your member of Congress and urge them to make this a priority to fix.
